Just playing devil's advocate......

Why are all the peaceniks so anti-American?

After all they have shown no support or respect for our fine young men and women in the armed forces. They have gone out their way to disrupt gains in the process of protecting the American people from further terrorism on our own shores... I guess letting another 9/11 happen here would be better than taking the action to them over on their land. Having thousands more AMERICAN civilians pay with their lives because peacniks thought they could appease the aggressors by not fighting on their land.
Not letting the Greatest Country in the World show them that war is hell and not to disturb the peace again.
I am wondering if these people protesting so loudly weren't dancing a little jig when the towers fell syaing "Yeah, finally someone showed the US they aren't as tough as they thought" "Glad that some slime balls flew a plane into the Pentagon so our military might is now questioned..."
How much disrespect are you showing those people on Flight 93, that died so another plane wouldn't of hit, thank god it was loaded with real Americans and not a bunch of damn peacniks, that plane probably would of made its destination...

Why don't you people go to some of the various memorial sites and look at those faces that have fallen... now look in the mirror and see the anti-American staring back.
You have the right to protest, yes, but how about showing some respect for those brave and strong enough to protect your a$$es.

THINK! if we don't stop it over there, nothing is to stop it over here... you say we will get more for our attacks... I say you are wrong, because countries will see that attacking the US is not a wise decision and they will stop protecting those who do.

Just as soon as you get off whatever drugs you are taking...

And it appears you, more than others are taking delight in seeing our support wither, so that we must go it alone and more fine young men and women will lose their lives for you...
But that is price for Freedom and Liberty... fighting for those who won't or can't fight for themselves.
We have the finest fighting force the WORLD and you can sleep better at night knowing that.
But nope, you want to battle here at home... go figure...

... What I'm fixing to say isn't persuasive, and it shouldn't be, it's only my personal experience, but I'll offer it up anyway.

I've been married 15 years to a man who has suffered, mostly in silence, while I've ranted about politics. We are so different, or were, in our outlooks it's a wonder we could stand each other all these years (or, more fairly, that he could stand me all these years.)

This is a 65 year old man who spent 20 years in the Navy seemingly without a political thought in his whole life. Through the years I've asked him - What were your thoughts on this, that, or the other... Vietnam war? Kent State? Watergate? etc. etc. Always the same answer - I didn't know anything about it, I was in the Navy.

He does not own a pair of blue jeans. He doesn't own a pair of sneakers or running shoes. Polyester pants, undershirt, always has a white handkerchief, which he uses. He would consider a golf shirt of the type you pull over your head too 'out there' to be for him.

As far as I can tell, he's never had a political opinion in his whole life. Once he says that he doesn't trust the government (this is a man who trusted Nixon, apparently), and one of the things that makes him especially worried is that he's never seen such a propoganda effort on the part of the U.S. government in all his years... this means something to me.

It's easy enough to say that all people who oppose this war are "Peaceniks" and "Anti-American." All I have to say is that this man is as far away from that image as you could possibly get.

But we did marry each other, say take it with a grain of salt.

Im not so sure that people are anti american, I think that a lot of them are just scared of what might happen if this conflict spreads.

I agree that there are better ways to protest than some of the things they are doing now.

Myself, I think that Iraq should be on hold and that the main target Iran should be hit first. These after all are the people that fund and train most of the terror groups around the world.

U.S. troops will face them when the fireworks start in Iraq.

"Peaceniks" are not anti-American!!! People who criticize the Bush administration are not anti-American. Your suggestion that people here were dancing a little jig as the towers came down is deplorable.

Bill Mayer had a good response to your type of question............

F. Scott Fitgerald has an indispensable quote: "The test of a first rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at once and still retain the ability to function." Or as I like to call it, "O.J. killed his wife, and the police are corrupt."

I bring this up because fear and war make people single-minded, and it's the worst time for it. For example, criticizing America doesn't mean we want them to win---we want us to win. that's why we're criticizing! I care about making my country better.

"When I criticize Bush, there is never a doubt in my mind, I like him better than Mullah Omar."

12pole

You have really spiralled into insanity and irrationality.

Since when does wanting peace or believing something is wrong...equate into Anti-Americanism? Since when does exercising your constitutional right equate into Pro-Saddam.

Protesting and Speaking out are two of the most AMERICAN things EVER!. To demonize and insult those who disagree with you are the most SADDAM-LIKE and COMMUNIST actions.

Don't call us anti-American, unpatriotic or Pro-Saddam when it is YOU who act that way...

Twelvepole is OFFICIALLY a Communist.....He upholds the best of the Communist principles and beliefs.

And don't try to even deny it....you make Stalin smile....

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both boldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar."

Nice quoting... do you have any original thoughts?

I am thinking of preventing more harm here at home by taking the fight to them...

I am thinking we have some great people in the military and I support them in their future endeavors.

I am thinking that I did say you have the right to protest... but your disrespect of our military and its commander in chief is deplorable...

I am thinking that anti-war protestors are anti-American by your lack of vision... not what you have done so far, but what you haven't done...

"O.J. killed his wife, and the police are corrupt."

Exactly.
Most people think if they hear two sides one must be 100% true and the other 100% wrong.

How about when they are both wrong or both right?

We have no more control of the government here than the people of Iraq do.
No - honestly - THINK - is there any way you can go vote that will make the least bit of difference in the policy or course of the nation in the next few years? If there is anyone that would buck the direction things are going you are simply never going to have an opportunity to cast a vote for them to be dog catcher much less President.

We are being swept along by powerful forces beyond our control and the best face you can put on it is that even if we have the most extreme of terrorists attacks here we will be a LOT safer than someone who lives in Baghdad.

You can protest all you want and it won't change. Actually you can voice support all you want and that won't matter either. They are going to take your treasure and do what they please in either case.

If anything the reason they hush voices of opposition in Iraq is they have more chance of making trouble in a land governed by rule of the personality. Here there is not one individual whose removal would bring great change. If Bush were removed tomorrow it wouldn't matter. So your voice is no threat. You can say what you want and they feel no danger. Your freedom of speech has remained due to the powerlessness of the American voter. Otherwise they would have stripped you of it by now.

I am thinking of preventing more harm here at home by taking the fight to them..
Stupid statement Number One.
Let me get this straight.....you hit him back FIRST???
That was originally a joke demonstrating an entremely idiotic person. Little did we know it would become Bush's Policy

I am thinking we have some great people in the military and I support them in their future endeavors.

So do I...in the PROTECTING of AMERICAN beliefs, not as the World's Attitude Enforcer.

I am thinking that I did say you have the right to protest... but your disrespect of our military and its commander in chief is deplorable...

Well then, feel free to tell us how, when and what we may protest. Don't worry, Stalin and Lenin are dead, they won't mind the plagiarism...just as the Britism and American War Hawks don't.

I am thinking that anti-war protestors are anti-American by your lack of vision... not what you have done so far, but what you haven't done...

What lack of vision? We see way beyond the end of our nose because we aren't on our knees. We lift our heads high and proudly in what we do.

Only Communists believe differently. The Right wing has become what it has hated and feared the most.....COMMUNISTS

You refuse to think...Only in COMMUNIST regimes do they try to suppress dissent. Only in Communist regimes do they remove rights. All in the name of "Security"

12pole AKA. 1"
Claims that 'peacenicks' have shown no support or respect for our fine young men and women in the armed forces"

Apparently being a peace lover, according to 1" negates any heroism or love of nation displayed by a list of 20+ highly decorated veterans on another chat, a list of Brigadiers, Colonels, Admirals, Captains and a Lieutenant.
"You are right Snowy, shouldn't of called them cowards and peaceniks... they need some serious mental help, I wonder if their bowels turn to water when they hear a backfire?
I understand that many veterans come home and fall apart, but there is help available."

You 1" are the type of character that chastised war vets upon return from Vietnam.
They risked their life for your country, you fool, and they were servants to your nation. They did as they were told, as all soldiers do.
Condom your leader for rights or wrongs of war, not the ‘tools’. They are your heroes, not the chief commander. Your type are what drives them to need ‘mental help’ with your attempts at dishing out ‘guilt trips’.

Devils advocate? You are a devil.
