Actually, the bombs were bursting underground, it was the anti-air craft shells exploding in the air. All those shell fragments falling to earth to injure all those innocent Iraqi's.

Good grief! You are blaming the civilian casualties on Iraqi fire?

No where in that article (that I can find) was there a mention of casualties. In other report (from the Red Cross) I find that 14 Iraqis' were injured & 1 Jordanian was killed. Again none of those reports state that those injured & killed were as a direct action of the strike on the command bunkers that were the target of the strikes.

Actually helen yes Iraqi fire causes a great deal more damage than you are willing to admit. The majority of the US firepower is GPS directed and does not implode until 3 stories deep. the tomahawks clear the top and the bunker bomb clear the bottom. There is no comparison to the technology used in the gulf to the weapons used in this war while iraqu weapons are the same. the anti air fire they use has no guidance system and the tracers they send up simply goes a distance and explodes, the result of the explosion is called "flack" and the hope is by scattering enough flack they will accidenlty hit an aircraft or missle. However all this really does is create a rainstorm of "flack" coming back to the ground indiscreminately thus causing great harm to there own people. I realize I am talking to a brick wall but some others may read this and gain some sort of understanding to your statement.

If you realize that, tomyou, it is appropriate to just state your comment. It's not necessary to address your comment to me and then add an insult because you felt the need to do so.

tomyou is right. What goes up, comes back down. When you shoot thousands of rounds up in the sky above a city, lots of people are going to get hurt. That's why police keep telling us not to shoot our guns in the air on New Years Eve and on the 4th of July.

I'd bet that most civilian casualties so far have been caused by Iraqi AA fire. But wounded civilians make good anti-US propaganda.

You're the one who starts these threads!
Why should'nt they direct them at you?

For every anti-aircraft tracer (illuminated bullet) that you see, there are between 5-10 regular bullets fired that you can't see. That's a lotta lead being shot up in the sky. And they will all fall back down with enough energy to kill anyone that they hit.

Threads are not owned by the starter. They are just ideas for discussion.

Some people start threads and leave for a few days.

tomyou obviously wanted to insult me. His comment was interesting otherwise and would have been more effective without the silly insult.

This is a terrible thing to assume BUT!!!
Not so bad considering who we are dealing with.
I'd be willing to bet,if the wounds of the victims in the were examined.
You would find they are bullet wounds!
Impossible for us to have done, just a way of them filling their hospitals to make us look bad!!!

So: what you're saying is you are just an instigator!
And comments should be directed away from you!

Maybe you didn't read the entire comment dadofstickboy.

Tomyou said,
"I realize I am talking to a brick wall but some others may read this and gain some sort of understanding to your statement."

It's ok to direct comments to me but that remark was not necessary.

If the bombs burst underground an apartment building I would expect a lot of civilian casualties.

Those massive explosions that I saw on television weren't anti-aircraft fire.

thats absolutley ridiculous and proves my point. This isn't WW2 , they are not just carpet bombing at will. You directed the statement and I made an informed reply so feel free to put me on ignore. it was based on all previous posts made. Perhaps others were not aware of the reasoning and because of that statement read other post to come to there own informed decision. That is the problem with a GREAT number of the issues some people have. They simply could care less about making an informed decision. " I know what I think and could care less about reality " is a contagious attitude. Most weapons being used are GPS guided and not as suspect to go astray as in previous confromtations and are not led astray by smoke and chasers. the laser munition are only fired with ground tagging or clear air tagging. Many planes are returning to the gulf with a full cache because they can't make a clear ID of the intended target.all that "horrific" bombing was at legit military targets and the civilian population was warned to stay away from the banks of that river Hours before the operation took place. again this is for those who care to try and make an informed decision and I will be glad to add to any legit discussion or debate but will not particapte in the nonsensible .Do I agree with all political descision all the time ? No but you can bet I have basis for reasoning other that someone famous on CNN said that this was bad. Do I back this war. YES and for obvious reasons that are there for all the willing to see.

Tomyou - Yes, having these things explained does inform those who don't know the difference of one type bomb to another.

And your observation skills are on target too.

It's Sunday.
I've heard a bunch of B52 and B2's left England last night and this morning. Got to get the TV on, Fox News of course.

Have some friends coming over. Picked up a 12 pack of Bud..War Beer and we'll probably have Bunker Buster wings and MOAB pizza.

Television war is great. Take em out for me. Not just Saddam and the boys but all the regime.

As 12 would say, Ain't life Grand. Just think what will happen if they really p*ss us off.

Amen,
Where's the MOAB's?

Helen - You are such a hypocrit. It's ok to direct comments to me but that remark was not necessary. Oh really. You continually feel free to make un-necessary remarks to others, but believe it's not allowed from others when directed towards you. LOL

MEMORANDUM
From: Public Works Department

To: Saddam Hussein

Subj: BLASTING OPERATIONS IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD

1.You may have noted some blasting noises and disconcerting rumbling of the ground in your general vicinity over the past several hours. Do not be alarmed, these shock waves are the result of a long-planned demolition and urban renewal project for the greater Baghdad area.

2.Should you become concerned that these vibrations are coming a little bit too close for comfort, here are some steps that you can take for your own protection:

Bend over,

Grab your ankles,

Put your head between your legs, and

Kiss your ass good-bye.

3.We apologize for any inconvenience this vital public works project may cause. Please be assured that it will be completed within a reasonably short period of time.

Sincerely,

L.T. Smash

You know the ROE ( rules of engagement ) that is given out to all units do not engage civilians do not cause civilian causalities ,allow the Iraq soldiers to surrender. The troops are doing their best to protect the Iraq civilians but our troops are endanger by being extra careful.
