Have you seen that General guy representing Iraq on TV? Maybe it's just my mood but I was laughing my head off. Everything he said was false... "The U.S. isn't even close to Baghdad", "we have almost won the war", etc., etc. Maybe he's trying to say Hussein's still alive by making up all these ridiculous stories???

Kraft - if you really want a good giggle - you gotta catch the Iraqi Embassaor to the UNs act...... priceless. His ability to it on on one with a reporter, look him or her in the eye and not burst into laughter at the sheer lunacy of his own statements is a rare talent.

I bet they drew straws as to who was going to have to look like an ass in the international public eye, and he got the short one.

No fooling. Coalition should remove the word Saddam from the large terminal just to send a visual confirmation. Let this joker try and explain that one.....

Another good confirmation would for a coalition tank to show up for a healthy game of pin the tail on the donkey while he is busy talking to Al Jazeerah

Oh pleasee tell me that I wsnot the only one that watched the CNN report as Marines blew up one of the larger Saddam statues in dowtown Bagdahd and immediately followed our friend that Information minster that stating that....
1) Iraq soldiers had poisoned large numbers of american soldiers
2) Coalition forces were absolutely not in Bagdahd
3) American soldiers are commiting suicide in large numbers
The best part his his assurances that they can count on him, believe in him and if he is lying bring him to answer for his statements.
As questions were posed his comments became evil more laughable, even to himself at times. He did assure reporters that coalition forces control nothing....not even themselves.
It is almost as thought he has come to the determination hat his career is over so as long as he is going to blow his credibility, he may as well do it on a large scale.

He ALSO said:
1) Iraqis are playing Madonna's new album high-blast & US troops are fleeing in horror!
2) Promised to personally deliver his "Mother of All Flatulance" to counter US troops!
3) Re-scheduled the airport tour -- now scheduled for LAST month!

I found the statements I heard equally ridiculous. However, remember that Saddam or his followers likely have the families of the men making these statements in custody. If they tried to tell the truth, their families would be slaughtered.
Of course, they well may be just lying to themselves as well as to us, hoping "all will be okay". Certainly they have a vested interest to attempt to hang onto any shred of power they can. They can always say later they were forced to say the things they were. Which is probably pretty close to the truth.

Arabs React with Dismay, Disbelief to News of US in Baghdad
In Lebanon, most citizens stayed close to their TV sets or radios to follow the news. Many refused to believe the reports, opting instead for Iraqi Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf's version of events, in which he denied that Americans had entered the capital.
"Sahhaf said they were not yet in Baghdad, didn't you hear him?" said Hisham Moniyyeh, 27, who runs a currency exchange shop in the southern port city of Sidon. "The Americans have been lying a lot since the beginning of this campaign so I don't believe them."

OK, so I cant Resist.... I was reading the Koran this morning and found this very apropo verse in (Surah #2 verse 6): Behold as for those who are bent on denyint the ruth. It is all one to them whether thou warnest them or dost not warn them. They will not believe. God has sealed their hearts and their eharing and over their eyes is a veil and awesome suffering awaits them.
On the lighter side... I bet you never expected to see stand up comedy like this in the middle of war footage. It is priceless. He should be invited to host the next Academy Award show.
