I am wondering how long after the war will Iraq be self sufficeint enough so we can leave...

I have a feeling it will be a couple of years, and besides we will need to keep Syria and others from trying to spoil things.

One thing though, we shouldn't try to impress upon them our ideals in the ways of equality to women and internal things of that nature yet because our way is not their way... we just need to set up the ground work for a democratic government be there to keep the peace and then move on

There will probably be sporadic fighting for months to come and that can be expected.
What would really be good is if other Arab communities come in and support the reconstruction, but I don't see that happening.

We should be able to leave after a year to 18 months.

I hope we keep an air base there just in case. You just don't know who will need an attitude adjustment down the line.

Amen,
Reverend Colin

I think an air base would be a good idea. I don't know if the culture of the land would allow it.
