The United States has arrived!!!

Pizza Hut and Burger King have managed to set up business inside war torn Iraq while humanitarian aid waits for the war to end.

Although soldiers are happy about the american food, officers are more concerned about decent showers and toilets first.

Now, soldiers want a brewery. HaHaHa!

Oh yeah - that'll go over REAL well with the Shi'ites. As if military members caught trying to steal money they were supoosed to be protecting and American journalists being busted by customs with stolen paintings were not enough. (Did you see the gold plated firearms complete with gold plated clips?)

But seriously, we need to be very carful about introducing to many sterotypically American things to the country before they start installing a government. Moves like that are going to be heavily exploited entities like Al Jizeera as examples of attempts to westernize still another Arab nation. This weekend on Meet the Press I heard a VERY interesting concept. Guests were talking about thing tht needed to happen and in what order in Iraq. One of the responses was that a big priority should be the forming of a national TV station. He stressed that it was very important that it could be a hinderence to US efforts and to the integrity of national election for Al-Jizzeera to be the sole source of information. he felt a national newtwork with equal representation from all of the major sects of event and news would be neccessary to combat retoric and outside influences.

When you really sit back and consider what is about to take place in Iraq and all of the variables this is truely an incredible undertaking that is about to take place. In this day of "Reality Programming" it would be fascinating to have a one or two hour weekly show on one of the cable stations showing day to day life, and the changes and developement Iraq and Iraqi families. What an amazing educational tool it could be to watch the process of the forming of a new democracy and establishing economic policies not to mention the paths they take as they re-enter the world markets while at the same time following a few specific families or even small varying communities to see what they feel about different changes and actions and the palpable effects on their lives. This is a once in a lifetime event that so many significant changes are taking place at the same time. It would be a shame the opportunity to watch it unfold in a form other than politically biased news quips was missed.

I wish that I had seen that Meet the Press broadcast. I think every day, why don't they cut out the crap on CNN and MSNBC and broadcast what's really happening.

The earliest evidence of brewing is from the middle east, probably Egypt. Proof that god does indeed favor these people..

Yes, I see it as an undeniable sign that God is on their side. That's why I worry so much about the ultimate outcome of this war.

We were in Lithuania (visiting) when American porn hit that country, sold on street corners, etc. Awful, blatant, filthy stuff. I felt as though America had introduced a disease into Eastern Europe. This country has planted the worst parts of its culture around the world (violent movies, rap music), represented us as gunloving skyscraper dwellers and our country as overgrown with crime. Is it no wonder other countries look down on us? We should keep our crap inside our borders. Instead, we've profited from the crap. Might as well sell outhouse contents.

Porn and crime are not solely American Culture. Not now, Not ever.

Both have run rabid worldwide through out history.

Porn is probably the biggest money maker in the Eastern block.

Sorry you were so sorry to be an American. You've made the Reverend's A-List.

Amen,
Reverend Colin
