I was really blown away by the last episode tonight. And when John Goodman showed up as Speaker of the House, we both shouted out loud from surprise. Toby was wonderful over those babies; I love him (his ex-wife is a spoiled brat!). Stockard Channing was terrific too. What a show.

And the last Sorkin-written episode ever ....
Goodman was an inspired choice. People see him so often as a lovable slob that it's a shock to realize he's actually a very commanding presence and can ACT.
To me, the scene with Abby at the door of the press room was the real stuff.

Neon: If you want a summary of what happened last night, I'd be glad to give you one.
I feel soooo sorry for you that you missed that episode! When I'm going to be away from home and television sets, I have a friend who tapes it for me. Maybe you'll get lucky and someone here will have taped it and could send it to you.
Also, it might be a re-run this summer. I'd watch for it. Sometimes they rerun cliffhangers (as this is!) a week or two before the new season.

It was a great episode, and it is indeed a shame that Aaron Sorkin's moving on. I hope they manage to maintain conceptual continuity with the new writers and producers.
I think Martin Sheen's character is magnificent, a depiction of a valid and viable Democratic President.
