God, aliens, psychics and supernatural stuff.

Some of you may know me to be a bit unconventional. Even medicine is a different world to me. I use guided imagery to combat pain, aromatherapy and reiki for relaxation and massage when I've really had enough. I take Valerian when I cannot sleep, even though it smells like dirty socks.

I believe strongly in God, but not in organized religion. The most organized I get in that respect is Bahai. At the heart of that belief is the conviction that humanity is a single people with a common destiny. In the words of Bahá'u'lláh, the Founder of that Faith, "The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens." Bahá'u'lláh taught that there is one God who progressively reveals His will to humanity. No hell fire and brimstone. And no pushing my beliefs onto others with threats of witch burning either!

Psychics are an iffy thing to me. I know I have had "visits" from my brother who passed in 1996 and a couple from my grandmother who passed in 1997. My husband who passed in 1999 only stopped by once. No, I'm not nuts. There are spirits who visit our home and sometime wreck havoc. I think they are to blame for the mess in my Ebay room. LOL. No, really, they are here because they are welcome here. Not a good thing as I am told. My granddaughter will sometimes refuse to go into a room. It's not a haunted horror house. Just a welcoming house is all.

Am I sufficiently nuts to you guys, yet? Where is orleansgallery to tell me I'm on my way to hell?

I'm not arrogant enough to believe that there is life nowhere else but here. I don't, however, believe people are abducted by aliens. I could be wrong so if I go missing for any length of time I am either dead (and in hell) or I've been abducted. Hee, hee.

That's me in a short nut shell. And I use the word nut lightly. Guess I'm just an old hippie.

Yes to the first. On the rest, I don't "believe" ... per se ... Kevin Smith explained it a lot better than I can:

"I think it's better to have ideas. You can change an idea. Changing a belief is trickier. Life should be malleable and progressive: working from idea to idea permits that. Beliefs anchor you to certain points, limit your growth. New ideas can't generate. Life becomes stagnant." -- Rufus, the 13th Apostle, in the hilarious movie Dogma.

Cheryl, I think you're some how related to me and my girlfriend! I thought we were the only whackos!

As for the questions...
There's one thing life has shown me...

absolutely positively anything is possible. I just don't sweat it too much.

A Buddha quote..Asking where the universe began is like a person that refuses to leave a burning house unless he knows the origin of the fire. In other words, enjoy life, don't sweat the really big stuff.

Fun to talk about though!

clivebarkerfan & cliverbarkerfan girlfriend:

Oh, there are plenty more of us out there. I find this a fascinating subject. Isn't it "in God all things are possible?" So, if you believe in God, you have to believe that anything is possible. Welcome aboard the wacky train.

I work for an alternative therapy clinic - acupuncture (haven't tried it yet but intend to), aromatherapy, guided imagery, hynotherapy and the whole gamut. I love it all! I take no prescription drugs, only natural cures. So far, so good. A dear friend lived for 15 years with full blown AIDS on natural immune system boosting products and healthy eating. He died quietly and without pain in his own bed. The American Indian had it right, only we were too biggoted and hateful to accept it.

Original post deleted.

Deleted because I was moody when I wrote it and only I should be subjected to my moodiness. Or, of course, the old man. Hee, hee. And because when we are moody and we write, we don't always check to make sure we are writing exactly what it is we mean to write. Am I right?

cblev: I don't take any issue with your points above, but you need to check history.Muhammad was born in the year 570 a.d., according to most accounts. He did not produce the Koran until later in life. The new testament, on the other hand, existed pretty much in it's current canon by 200 a.d. The Christian's bible can't be based on the Koran. The Koran specifically mentions Jesus and supports the divinity of his birth. It was written after the bible.

Thank you for setting me straight. I was in an angry mood, as you can probably tell. You are of course, right. What I really meant to say (and said it poorly, I'm afraid) is that the Koran, too, is a Bible of sorts and that there are other beliefs that are just as valid as Christianity. And, that I don't think there are any wrong beliefs. It's a person's right to believe what they feel is right for them. Probably still said it poorly, but I'm lacking sleep.

Again, thanks loads! See, I appreciate being set straight when it's in a manner that is not condecsending.

cblev: yer welcome

kraftdinner: Living out here in the bushes, and dealing with death and renewal all the time, it's impossible for me NOT to believe in some sort of divine ordination of the whole scheme of things. Call it God if you wish. The only time I ever go to mass anymore is when somebody gets married, buried or baptized. God presents himself to me in the birth of a lamb, the opening of a hedgehog cactus flower, the night-time scream of the lioness who lives in the creek bottom, the death rattle of a favorite old border collie as his tail wags one last time....

We see lots of wierd lights, and hear all sorts of ufo tales around here, told by crusty old no nonsense ranchers, not woo-woos wearing tinfoil hats. I'm like Mulder I guess, I WANT to believe, but until one lands in the south pasture I'm reserving judgement.

This house is full of ghosts. There are over 200 years of my ancestors here, all of them born in this place, and most of them died here too. The women show up in the sala or the kitchen, especially when there's a family gathering, or somebody is in trouble. One or more of the men will always make an appearance or leave a sign around roundup and again at lambing time. I guess they still want to help! I don't want to count how many people were birthed and passed on in the very bed we sleep in. You can't live here and not believe in "fantasmas".
