I pay nothing. A bit of lemon juice from the cupboard and the sun. Oh, and plenty of conditioner! Unless you want straw for hair.

My girlfrind is a penny pincher (in the best way!). She usually pays $6. She cuts coupons and waits for sales.

Let nature have its way. I'm proud of EVEY ONE of these grey strands on the head & face.

I dream of owning a beautiful blue page boy wig. My son will not have it.

eBay!

I actually [/i]had a pageboy wig (dark brown, not blue) in the mid-80s that I bought at a going-out-of-business sale at a wig store. At the time, my hair was almost to my waist, so I would carefully coil it up and pin-curl it flat to get the wig on ... and Freak. People. Out.

As far as how much I currently pay for hair color ... I've admitted it once on these boards. I don't want to think about it again.

Wigs are so cool. Unfortunately, they are not in vogue anymore. If you wear them people think you are psycho or in chemo.

Back in the olden day of "aqua net and dippity doo" I used to watch my mother put on her "hair" every morning before going to work. I was but a wee lass but I found all the clippies and and styrofoam heads so fascinating. My father wore "High Karate" cologne. They would leave in their Mustang to watch James Bond Movies. I would stay home practicing my moves in my jr. GoGo Boots.

Aquanet and Dippity Doo. I remember those. I roller skated competitively and my hair was always glued with Aquanet into some gross beehive or french twist. Yuk! I didn't think it was bad back then, but when I see photos now I cringe. What were we thinking?

Don't worry, think of all the tatooed pierced hipsters that are going to look into the mirror twenty years from now and say the same thing. There is nothing new under the sun.

The french twist! now that was the doo of doo's!

French twists are still the coolest. I still have a little too much hair to do a tidy, close-to-the-head one but I love a twist with curls spilling out of the top.

I like the modernized french twist. My was so tight against my scalp it almost changed the shape of my eyes from pulling the skin to tight! LOL! It took hours to get all the bobby pins and hair spray out. To get even with my mother, I had my hair cut into a shag (1970's) by putting it into a ponytail and letting my best friend cut the ponytail off. Hey, it was the "look". Talk about a growing out nightmare!!
