With more and more home improvement shows on like Trading Spaces and Designer Guys, have you been inspired enough to redecorate or make-over a room yet??

Last year we untook bathroom and bedroom projects. The house we live in is 100 years old and shows it in many ways. The bedroom had old 1970's dark paneling and avacado green carpeting. It is now lavender and white with one sponged wall. We had to replace the walls because they were plaster and that crumbled when we removed the paneling. The bathroom was just as bad! Someone used contact paper as wallpaper and put a kitchen cupboard in as a cabinet. It's now sort of deco in design. My first wallpapering job ever was in the bathroom. Not bad if I say so myself. The rest of the house will take forever. 1970's paneling is throughout. A multi-colored tacky carpet is in the livingroom as well as false ceilings.
We also sided the house last summer and added a new porch.
I've been here 4 years and have a carpenter for a live-in boyfriend. You'd never know it by the look of the rest of the house! LOL! Room-by-Room.

He doesn't have a good marriage track record. I'm too independent for him. He wants someone who needs to depend on him totally.
What will move him though is my picking up a sledge hammer and having a go at those walls myself. That will freak him out enough to get him moving. Actually, we want to sell the house once it's presentable and move out of the neighborhood. It's getting increasingly worse. We've tried to keep the neighborhood safe, but are losing the battle. There are a lot of families with children of all nationalities so it's a pretty diverse area and we like it that way. Everyone keeps at least the outside of their homes looking very nice. We are losing the battle to the pimps and drug dealers who have been pushed into our neighborhood from other neighborhoods. The innercity is a funny place (or not so funny in our case).
Sledge hammer it is.
