Been to the canyon a bunch of times..If you're going to the south rim, forget it, the movie's better..(iMax)...I call it "Grand Canyon National Parking Lot"...figure out how to go to the North (the good)Rim...only one lodge and some cabins, but it's 1000 ft. higher in elevation and much more personal in it's views of the big ditch...an extra 4 hours driving, but who's in a hurry?

I want to go to Peru, New Orleans, and live to see the end of Microsoft...

Too many things I want to do. I usually get to them. I've seen the Grand Canyon in the late 60's. It was .......Grand.

Saw Sting in a small bar in Albany, NY when he was with the Police. The early 80's I believe. There was about 10 people in the bar. It was considered white Reggie at the time. Great Music still one of my favorites ...Police that is.

I'd like to be the founder or inventor of a cure for stupidity.

I'd like to take a trip to the Orient to see Japan, China and Vietnam and Scotland where my family on my mom's side is from.

Oh, one more thing. I'd like to see my eBay room clean and organized before I die. I know that will never happen, but one can dream can't they?

The Grand Canyon and most places in the Hawaiian Islands are best enjoyed in a helicopter tour. You can see places that most never see except on film.
-----
neonmania - and understand my family...I'll wish you luck on that AND starting your business.
------
Cheryl - I predict you'll live a VERY long life with that requirement [my eBay room clean and organized].

Before I die....there is nothing I'd want to do besides spend more time with my family. I've always felt this way, it isn't something new. No yearnings to travel, no stones left unturned. I've been blessed in my adult life and would go in peace.

Linda

You'll be sure to keep us posted, won't you? Spending more time with the family would be nice. Mine barely knows me anymore. The only time we seem to spend together anymore is at the flea market. And even there we have to chase each other down.

I'd love to wake up one day in a world where there is no fear.
I believe it was Arthur C. Clarke who addressed that topic in the novel Childhood's End - the result was an evolution of children who no longer wasted much of their brains' capacities on fear. The new uses for that potential were mind-boggling.
We can dream, can't we?

Krafty,I've been to the big ditch twice,Once as a teenager, and then again when I did a lot of cross country, on my bike. The second time I appreciated it more,The view is forever ,and it true, about you feeling so very small compared to the majesty of the Grand Canyon....As Bob Barker says....
"Come on down"!!...

fern, that's a unique thought. I've never thought of what the world would be like if we were all fearless. Interesting!

"The big ditch".... is that what it's called?? LoL!! I can imagine how small a person must feel there junque, like a dot. I feel that way when watching shows about space and black holes... talk about insignificant!

This brings up the topic of "life lists.
If you don't have one, you should really consider getting a notebook or blank book and starting one ... I have held on to the same book since I was a teenager and it's amazing how my goals have changed.

For example, I don't think "See Shaun Cassidy naked" is still among my priorities ... funny how things slip away from you.

One thing that has stayed on the list, in one form or another ... I've never taken a major non-business trip by myself and I'd really like to. Just go somewhere (Northern Italy would be great) and float where the wind blows me. No friend, family member or lover to consult, no negotiating or fretting over whether the other person is bored. Sounds like heaven to me.

krafty - If you like Arthur C. Clarke (2001: A Space Odyssey), you will probably love Childhood's End, which is much more conceptually coherent than 2001 or its sequels.
I's amazed it was never made into a movie. The concept of a world without fear is certainly attractive in this day and age.

msincognito - cool idea about the book; I'll have to start one myself, though I hate to think of all the funny stuff that would be noted in mine if I had started one as a teen. Oh well . . .

A few others:

"Grow my hair long enough to sit on it" - check.

"Go out with (tall cute blond guy in my 11th grade art class)" Took me 10 years and a very chance meeting to do it but I did!

"Stop biting my nails." Well .....

Before I die, I need to:

1. Drop a 502 cubic inch motor into my restored 1972 Camaro.

2. Buy a nice piece of land in Costa Rica.

I did another thing (on my long list) I wanted to do. I performed a wedding ceremony. I did a nice job of it, proud of myself.....but then again...I always am.

A special hello and God Bless to everyone, Pinko's too.
