just checked the 5 day forecast...wish I hadn't. We are averaging about 6 degrees above normal temps each day. It was the same last summer. It's really hard on the vegetation and especially the livestock.

We're experiencing a heat wave too prof. It's about 93 degrees right now and humid. Everyone around here has horses, but with expected draught conditions for a 5th year, we're all worried about our wells. Do you have a good well for your animals prof?

The weather here is cool compared to Iraq with temperatures there ranging up to 120 degrees along with high humidity Can you imagine that? Wow!

At this point at least, water's not an issue. Our wells are holding their water level ok although there are some areas close by here that have had their wells dry up. I know that the eggheads say you can't use local or even regional conditions as indicators of global warming...but with years of constantly warmer local and regional temperatures and less precipitation each season, it sure adds a serious note to the issue.

Re: Bush Administration ... Sierra Club notes: "They've already given a free pass to America's worst polluting power plants and refineries, and they are actively pushing a bill that would allow 50 percent more sulfur dioxide pollution, not to mention three times more mercury pollution. At least the corporations that create the pollution can breathe easier, even if we can't."

In contrast, it's been lovely here ... "lovely" being in the low 90s, with a light afternoon rain to take the muggy off. (What my mom calls a "sun shower." )

Temps not too bad here. However, I'm on vacation and we are expecting thunderstorms all week! What is it with this crazy weather? Last week it was 90's, next week 70's and 80's, which is fine by me. But, we've had so much rain that our grass in the backyard is giving way to mud.

Updated forecast is worse now. Records predicted for wed. and thurs...115-117...we spent the day moving as many sheep as we could find into the creek canyon bottom, where they'll get under the trees and stand around in the water. I hate to do that for two reasons. The cougar who lives down there will help herself to a lamb if she can outsmart the dogs, who will have to pull 24 hour duty for the rest of the week, and it messes up the stream banks if they have to stay too long..sure glad I bought a fresh bottle of Sphincterine, nothing like spending a day on a horse when it's 108 to give you "the burn"

Now I remember why I put up with all the negatives of San Diego. It's the ten block walk to the water. I'll try to mentally send you some of the breezes off the water Prof. Keep cool
