What is wrong with on-air news people?! They call everyone a gentleman, even murderers.
Today, speaking of a 6-person massacre and suicide in a public place, the on-air person asked the on-the-scene person if he knew "why the gentleman did this." Good God.
I hear police chiefs at news conference refer to murderers and rapists as "gentlemen."
"Individual" isn't much better, and they use that a lot when they could say man, person, etc. I understand that this is police jargon.
But "gentleman"? Surely our language hasn't been perverted that much, that fast?
