A few weeks ago I was working for a man doing a little rehab work on a house and he wanted me to staple down some subflooring with his Sears staple gun that runs off an air compressor. He ran out of stables so he ran up to Home Depot and got some but the jammed up and wouldn't feed through it.
This week I needed a regular hand powered staple gun like you use to staple paper or fabric and a box of Arrow staples hanging right there beside it at the Sears store.
Today I found out you can't even load the standard size stables in the Sears tool. I remembered the air tool.....

Boy they sure fooled me!
Those slick marketers saw what a rube I was and trapped me. Now I HAVE to buy their staples to use the tool. What a got you!
Fooled me so good I threw the damn thing away because I don't care to be managed or fooled not to mention cheated. So who is the fool? Me that wasted $15 or Sears that wasted a customer who bought from them for years?
Assholes.

I stopped buying from Sears years ago when they closed their store in Cleveland laying off a lot of workers because the city wasn't good enough for them. They would rather be in the burbs, closer to the middle class.

I haven't understood Sears' business model since they got rid of catalog ordering. I do still like their tools though. I recently took a 25+ year old 1/2" ratchet that finally stripped out back to the store and traded it for a new one, no questions asked.

Can't beat Sears tool warranty... buy all my tools there for that reason.

As far as the other problems, the only one I know of was years ago when Sears Automotive got in hot water for overcharging customers for work they didn't actually perform...

gravid,

I've used that type of stapler for years to stretch painting canvas and I have found that it's safer to purchase the same brand staples as your staple gun. I use an Arrow gun because Arrow staples are easily available.

I have an electric stabpler.
My understanding is that most manufacturers design theirs so you have to buy their staples or risk jams or damage.

It wasn't directed at any one poster!
It was directed to everyone who used the B word here.

I also use mostly Sears handtools. Only the ones with the "Craftsman" brand carry the forever guarantee. Years ago I bought a broken ratchet at a flea market for a quarter and traded it back to Sears for a brand new one that I still use 30 years later.

Sears makes a decent hand tool.
Found their electric tools are built with low quality bearings.
bought 2 drills, a 1/4" and a 3/8" both of the nose bearings went out from very little use.

The quality of Sears tools has decreased in the last 25 years. Used to be all I would buy was Sears tools. Not any more.

Breaks me up seeing a commercial for Sears about the quality of thie Kenmore products. Hotpoint & Whirlpool make ALL of Sears' washers driers & refrigerators.
