OK bear...that's only one reason.
Dismayed Americans contemplate Canada
"For me, it's a no-brainer," said Mollie Ingebrand, a puppeteer from Minneapolis who plans to go to Vancouver with her lawyer husband and 2-year-old son.
"It's the most amazing opportunity I can imagine. To live in a society where there are different priorities in caring for your fellow citizens."

I wonder how many thought of heading to Canada pre-Bush, Helen? I wonder how many more will pick up and move if Bush gets 're-elected'?
"Helen the migration to Canada is prompted by the promise of legalized pot."
bear, I can see that it must be hard to imagine a country that's trying to update unnecessary laws and let the people have the freedom to decide what's best for themselves. Only stupid people need laws to tell them how to conduct their own lives.

Kraftdinner,
There is some discussion on another board about the possibility of California seceding and becoming a part of Canada. Another suggestion is that California could become a part of Mexico. And then there are the few that would prefer pushing California into the ocean while the Bush wannabees are rooting for a preemptive strike...that is, if they determine that Californians have WMD or OIL.
Right now, they are calling each other morons and jackasses.
Hahaha!

Rene Mercier, spokesman for Canada's immigration department, said any upsurge in U.S.-to-Canada immigration based on current political developments won't be detectable for a few years, because of the time required to process residency applications. During the Vietnam War, U.S. emigration to Canada surged as thousands of young men, often accompanied by wives or girlfriends, moved to avoid the draft.
But every year since 1977, more Canadians have emigrated to the United States than vice versa - the 2001 figures were 5,894 Americans moving north, 30,203 Canadians moving south.

Gay marriages

Then if there is a draft implemented, the draft dodgers will try to escape to Canana, even though it won't be as easy as it was in the 60s and 70s.
Hi ya Linda!

Hi Linda!!! I won't go on, but it's nice to see you!!
Your link doesn't work for me Helen (damn Netscape!) I'll check it out later.
It might be easier than you think clarksville. Canada LOVES Americans! And pretty soon they might be able to come here under refugee status if Bush reamins President for much longer!
