Although I wrote this book in a spirit of dispassionate inquiry, I cannot expect my critics to respond in kind. My right-wing detractors will undoubtedly tell you that I’m “obnoxious,” “smug,” and a “clear and present threat to our national security.” I will not stoop to dignify such calumny with a response, except to say that Condoleezza Rice should watch her mouth.
Al Franken, one of our “savviest satirists” (People), has been studying the rhetoric of the Right. He has listened to their cries of “slander,” “bias,” and even “treason.” He has examined the Bush Administration’s policies of squandering our surplus, ravaging the environment, and alienating the rest of the world. He’s even watched Fox News. A lot.
And, in this fair and balanced report, Al bravely and candidly exposes them all for what they are: liars. Lying, lying liars.
Al destroys the liberal media bias myth by doing what his targets seem incapable of: getting his facts straight. Using the Right’s own words against them, he takes on the pundits, the politicians, and the issues, including:
• Ann Coulter: “The reigning diva of the hysterical right. Or rather, the hysterical diva of the reigning right.”
• The 2000 Election: “Bush was lying throughout the 2000 campaign. And unlike Gore, Bush’s lies weren’t even true.”
• The War On Terror: including the Bush administration’s top secret pre-9/11 initiative, “Operation Ignore”
Come with Al as he confronts Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Paul Wolfowitz, Karl Rove, and other right-wing scoundrels. And enjoy the adventures of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and your favorite right-wing hawks who never went to war as they serve on John Kerry’s Vietnam gunboat in Al’s short story “Operation Chickenhawk: Episode One.”
Timely, provocative, unfailingly honest, and always funny, LIES sticks it to the most right-wing administration in memory, and to the right-wing media hacks who do its bidding.

So I read this and decided to find a out a little more if possible and called a friend in Colorado. While there is no state primary, there are regional caucuses which will relate back to the electorial representatives to determine voter recommendations towards party nominations. Same purpose served, less money spent.

There will be a caucus here in Ohio. I see the Republicans doing everything they can to try to squash the Democratic party. I look for an election that will be more shady than the last one. We all know how Bush won the last election. There is nothing honorable about the man.
There is not too much coming from the media that I would consider believable they can be bought just like everyone else. Used to be a time when being a journalist meant keeping the public informed no matter the cost. There was honor in it. Now the stations and their jounalists are kissing the bent over backsides of those tossing money their way. We all know what party they are connected to.

I didn't support James Traficant. He is not in my district. However, he did pull Youngstown out of deep financial trouble. Youngstown has always been a bit on the seedy side. I live no where near Youngstown and have to travel about 80 miles to get there. He must not have been that bad. He was voted in and saved by his voters more than once.

Fox News Channel has sued liberal humorist Al Franken and the Penguin Group to stop them from using the phrase "fair and balanced" in the title of his upcoming book.
Filed Monday in Manhattan, the trademark infringement lawsuit seeks to force a Penguin publisher, Dutton books, to rename the book, "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right." It also asks for unspecified damages.
Fox News registered "Fair & Balanced" as a trademark in 1995, the lawsuit said.

cheryl - You gave me a little chuckle when you said: "He was voted in and saved by his voters more than once. Well maybe...but he is serving time in jail now. So someone decided that he had done something bad.
Yes, the courts. Well, I know that he wasn't innocent of any wrong doing. I had a friend I worked for near the Youngstown area. I worked on newspapers. He was a friend of Traficant's. Two peas in a pod! Went there for New Years Eve one year only to find out someone was shooting at the house. Oh brother. That's one job I'm glad I don't have anymore!
Traficant is not a true representative of any party. Not even republicans.

Crazy.....that anyone can trademark such an obvious usage. I think I'll trademark sweet and sour and big and tall, and all the chinese places and clothing stores will have to pay me.....
