i run in place on a machine for one hour every day.
it is getting harder and harder to do so.
i usually stuff my face before i run and while i run,i listen to loud blasting music-40 licks by rolling stones.
as you know, running in place can be BORING,so i look at the clock all the time to make sure i dont run more than i have to.
Any suggestion which will make this business an affair to look forward to,also need advice to find more energy !!

1) Stop stuffing your face. It requires energy to digest food. Try a protein shake an hour or so beforehand.
2) Find better ways to entertain yourself. Mix up your music selections. Get some books on tape. Try fast paced or sports related movies. There is a rason so many cardio machines in gyms now have DVD players. Get your mind of the activity itself. Stationary cardio is boring as hell

Of course youc ould always just get out of the house for awhile and stop doing your cardio in place. Go run, take different routes, explore your surroundings.

Also try watching TV instead... or pop in an old B&W movie... they were mostly just a little over an hour... and take your mind off of it.

Sugar actually is not good. It gives you a temporary rush but it is short term and then you crash. I would not reccommend it. Try making 3 different tapes, with varying tempos of different styles of music with as little break between songs as possible See if you can have the tempos flow from a medium to upbeat to something harder for for about 3 minutes (early Metalica stuff is great for peak times if you don't mind the style) then back to a mediium tempo. Since you will naturally work harder to more uptempo songs this will keep you from easing into an excercise rut. Switching your tapes from day to day to match your mood or motivation level that day will also help. Also switch your cardio methods around if you can. See if there is a Y near you where you can jump on a bike once or twice a week. Swim if you can (When I didn't have regular access to a pool I used just go to a local Marriott or Hilton and use theirs - there is a little wicked fun factor plus you get the added bonus of the hot tub or sauna that most of those facilities have as well). Cardio is by far the hardest thing to stay motivated to do mentally because the results are less obvious. You don't get the gratification of advancements as quickly as you do with muscle oriented workouts.

You will have to either pay for the hotel accomodations or be "wicked".

You just act as though you belong there Be polite, don't make a mess and smile at all the right people. By the time they figure out that you probably have not been a guest there for the past month they like you enough not to really care anyway. Of course eating breakfast there every now and then after your workout doesn't hurt either.
