After seeing this, I can honestly say that if I had a seizure and dropped many many IQ points... I could see voting Democrat and it would have to be Dean... I like his words and style the best...
I liked the way they all talked about making other countries come into standards of wages and environmental standards equal to our own...

However the national health care they all pitched... none really had a way they would pay for it, except for Kuninich (?) and he shot himself by talking about cutting the military budget...

My dear man, please sit down and allow me to place a cold, wet washrag on your forehead. Surely you have a fever.

WAY TOO liberal. Wants socialized medicine; didn't agree with the tax cuts; upset dems supported Bush attack on Iraq; passed a civil union bill in his state....might support same sex marriages.

Oh please don't let it be a seizure.

Good Lord!

How can we keep employment up, by cutting back on arms production??

Gentlemen, gentlemen! where on earth are our priorities!!!

On the issue of repealing Bush tax cuts, Kerry said: "We Democrats fought hard to provide a tax cut to the middle class. If you do what Howard Dean wants to do, a family earning $40,000 is going to pay an additional $2,000 in taxes."

hmmmmm....so Bush's tax cuts are already providing an additional $2,000 income for this same family. And in a few more years, it will be providing even more....unless Dean [and others like him] have their way.

If you thought he was way too liberal, what were your thoughts on the Rep from Ohio?

That man just out and out scared me if he were to get in...

twelvepole - Sorry - I tend to refer to all those on the left as liberal.

To me, there are moderate liberals...they pretty much support their party line, but will vote with the other on some issues. Like say Lieberman.

Then there are hard core liberals....party line only. Gephart etc.

Then there are socialists...want equal everything. Fully support the democratic party line, but go even further to the left.

Then those who boarder on being even further left than socialists....that's the catagory I'd put Mr. K from Ohio in.

Ahhh I see Linda, it was good to see the competition though... President Bush must be sitting back with a little sigh of relief... none I saw on this first debate made much of an impression.

Well, I didn't watch these PBS debates, but saw my first campaign commercial for Dean.

What I got from it was the same as I've heard other Dem contenders say... attacking the current President... its almost as if they have no 'plan' nothing, so they do resort to a lot of that.

Dean did say though, he will work for health insurance for EVERYONE, because he was able to do it in Vermont.....thats where Mike started talking back to the TV (oh and Mike is/was a liberal Dem! ) he said, 'yeah, well Vermont is small compared to the entire country, Mr Dean!'

Mike already made up his mind long ago, and I don't talk to him about politics that much, he is voting for Bush. Go figure.. he voted for Gore the last time, and said he knows now it was a wasted vote.

Watching the Keystone Kops or the Three Stooges would have been an improvement. And had the same results.

Your quote must be one of President Bush's favorites, Bear. Having a post war plan would entail worry.

NearTheSea - Glad to hear someone else responds to the TV the way I do.

My comments are usually along the lines of "Yes, and just what solution are you offering on this subject?" Because, as you said, it's mostly just criticizing not offering solutions. I really believe a lot of people can see the same thing....those 'swing' voters aren't blind.

No graphics editor...simply a link

http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/09/05/elec04.poll.analysis/

Some 41 percent of all registered voters say they will definitely vote against Bush; just 29 percent say they will definitely vote for him. So Bush must woo about seven in ten swing voters -- not a difficult task for a popular incumbent, but far from a certainty.

Thank you for the links Linda, I thought I had seen President Bush was still held above the 50% mark, but he does still have some work ahead.
I think with the economy improving, people will see that.
