Lengthy, I apologize, but I am ticked off right now!

I downloaded the AOL software (FREE?) back in August..didn't need it except to do that instant chat w/my son who's in college.

Well, needless to say, he never got his hooked up at school on his laptop.

Since downloading...all of 15 minutes, I have never used the darn thing!

Bank statement...2 bills, over 23 bucks a clip since Oct 1.

Called the CS at AOL.
Some guy was patronizing me...WRONG thing to do.

I asked to speak to his manager.
He said:
"Do you think my manager is going to talk w/you?" smirkingly said.

I told him I'd contact the Attorney General in VA.

What can I do? I want at least one refund.
He refused it...said I was paying for a dialup connection.

I don't use a dialup connection.
HELP!

I get those offers nearly every other month.. Two months free.

Since you downloaded it maybe you are responsible for the fee whether you use the dialup or not.

Good luck!

Helen

In order for AOL to bill you, you would have had to sign up by giving them your billing information (i.e., bank account info, credit card, etc). Once you sign up you are billed whether you use the service or not. I had AOL for 5 years and finally got rid of it in favor of cable Internet. It was the best decision I ever made. I gave my mother my AOL account by changing the billing information to her and she loves it. I'm really surprise, though, at what customer service said to you. They were usually quite helpful for me. Then again, that was almost 2 years ago.

Wow, what was that about? I sincerely wished you good luck which you apparently received. My comment, liveinjeans, had noting to do with a political agenda.

Now, "ole conservative one", you will probably be overwhelmed with attention.

When I ended my connection with AOL I received many phone calls with generous offers and still, today, I am receiving AOL disks nearly every month.

haha @ Helen!
I am just teasing you!!

I truly don't like to discuss politics, everyone is right you know!!!

Anyway, I had to sign on to use the instant messenger thingie.
I had to give my credit card number.
I use CABLE internet anyway.
He said, NO, you use DIALUP.
Like Heck I do was my reply!

I don't mind paying for my mistake.
That guy was so arrogant, calling me by my first name, like I am his best friend!
How RUDE!!! I am old enough to be his momma, and IF he was my son, I skin him alive!

Southerner here!!

I can relate to that!!! They have no clue how old the person on the other end is. I once asked a rude salesperson over the phone if he'd talk to his grandmother that way. Of course, he said no. I then said, "Then why are you talking to me that way?" He shut up! My kids, too, know better!

CB, I think some young guys think women are generally stupid or ignorant, so they talk "down" to you.

You see, AOL billed me a month in advance.
I cancelled and wanted to be refunded for NOV. I was willing to compromise.
He was a total A$$ on Line (AOL)
