In order for AOL to bill you, you would have had to sign up by giving them your billing information (i.e., bank account info, credit card, etc). Once you sign up you are billed whether you use the service or not. I had AOL for 5 years and finally got rid of it in favor of cable Internet. It was the best decision I ever made. I gave my mother my AOL account by changing the billing information to her and she loves it. I'm really surprise, though, at what customer service said to you. They were usually quite helpful for me. Then again, that was almost 2 years ago.

Wow, what was that about? I sincerely wished you good luck which you apparently received. My comment, liveinjeans, had noting to do with a political agenda.
Now, "ole conservative one", you will probably be overwhelmed with attention.
When I ended my connection with AOL I received many phone calls with generous offers and still, today, I am receiving AOL disks nearly every month.

haha @ Helen!
I am just teasing you!!
I truly don't like to discuss politics, everyone is right you know!!!
Anyway, I had to sign on to use the instant messenger thingie.
I had to give my credit card number.
I use CABLE internet anyway.
He said, NO, you use DIALUP.
Like Heck I do was my reply!
I don't mind paying for my mistake.
That guy was so arrogant, calling me by my first name, like I am his best friend!
How RUDE!!! I am old enough to be his momma, and IF he was my son, I skin him alive!

I can relate to that!!! They have no clue how old the person on the other end is. I once asked a rude salesperson over the phone if he'd talk to his grandmother that way. Of course, he said no. I then said, "Then why are you talking to me that way?" He shut up! My kids, too, know better!

CB, I think some young guys think women are generally stupid or ignorant, so they talk "down" to you.
You see, AOL billed me a month in advance.
I cancelled and wanted to be refunded for NOV. I was willing to compromise.
He was a total A$$ on Line (AOL)

AOL...America's favorite way to hide from the internet
