With Thanksgiving around the corner, and Christmas on the way, I want you to know I'm thinking about you. You're a good-hearted trooper, Linda. I admire the way you've handled yourself through rough times and respect you a great deal. I know you're a Christian, so I believe that God will be holding your hand through these holidays and if I were there, I'd hold your hand too.

I'll second that.

Hugs to you too, {{{Linda}}}!
Did you all stuff your faces? Did you gain weight and feel bloated the next day?
Not trying to compare my more healthier lifestyle or anything, but I experienced none of the above.

KD - We sure did. And it was worth every ounce. I asked my hubby to help me get through this alone, while I was doing all the prep work. And at dinner when I shared that with our family and guests, we all decided he must have put his 'magical touch' on our whole meal because we all agreed everything never tasted so good.
but I experienced none of the above. Not even on Oct. 14th??? Isn't that when your country celebrates Thanksgiving....or am I totally confused? I know you don't eat the turkey, but do you also bypass the other goodies?

Linda, I'm so glad that it went A-OK & that you had family & friends there for support. I think the first year is the toughest.
P.S. My blurb about my 'superior lifestyle' was just to give you a chuckle, although on the Cdn. Thanksgiving, I did have a spinach salad.

Linda
Glad to hear your husband was there to comfort you. Somehow I knew he would be! He will continue to be there whenever you need him.
We had a nice Thanksgiving. Normally, I cook. This year my mother went with my step-father to his son's so the kids and I went to my husband's uncle Kelly's house to eat. Kelly's son died from cancer 5 years ago and his daughter in law still comes for holiday dinners. Her new boyfriend is very welcomed there. It's the same with me. My husband died 4 years ago and my boyfriend is also welcomed there for the holidays! It makes for a very different holiday dinner. The most important part was that I spent it with my children and my granddaughter.
I hope everyone's Thanksgiving was a ful-filling one.

KD - to give you a chuckle. It did. But SPINACH????? yuck. Surely you're occassionally tempted by something that tastes good but is 'bad' aren't you?

Thanks, Cheryl. That's what they all say, about the first year. I know you've walked down this path and understand.

I know you've had your share as well, {{{Cheryl}}}. The holidays can be tough for many people and I hope nobody here has to spend those days alone (unless they want to!).
Linda, I'm a weird eater. Mostly uncooked green vegetables all day and multi-gallons of Diet Sprite. I think I was a head of lettuce in a former life.

Personally, I love spinach. My contribution to Thanksgiving dinner was a big bowl of southern greens - spinich, mustard greens and turnip greens. Yum!
