Former secretary O'neill complained his first interview with Bush after getting his job he sat and listened to an hour long monolog and that se t the theme of how things worked - that Bush has no open dialog in which he actually seeks to have his advisors do their job.
Well if that is so I have to ask - Why would you stay there and subject yourself to that sort of environment? Are you too greedy and gutless to get up and say you obviously have no need or respect for me so take the job and shove it?
I have quit jobs before after a half hour when it was obvious they were flaming jackasses. Is that so much to ask of someone to have a little respect for themselves?
I've read that the White House is nervous about 2 new books. One is the book in which O'neil assails the president for lack of interest in policy. The one quote from the news article probably doesn't tell the whole tale. The book will be discussed on CBS's 60 minutes this weekend
Here is a description of the second book which will probably be more interesting....
"A book due out later by Richard Clarke, the White House's top terror expert under both President Clinton and President Bush, is another matter. Mr. Clarke is known to feel the Bush administration largely ignored the threat of terrorism and Osama bin Laden before 9-11, even after al Qaeda in June 2001 claimed responsibility for the bombing of the USS Cole, which killed 17 American soldiers."
