Because they lied about him. The mis-information was put out by a group of physicians that promote veganism.

His heart problems were caused bt a viral infection several years ago and his "weight" was caused by bloating while in a coma.

Thus far the benefits observed in a recent study by Duke and Harvard maintain the efficacy of the Adkins diet.

i think the best diet is the joan collins diet-extend your elbows and push yourself away from the dinner table.

Replay, I also heard that Linus Pauling (the vitamin C guru) died from malnutrition! People will say anything.

She Who Must be Obeyed has decided to go on the South Beach Diet next month and has asked me to join her . I could stand to lose maybe 6 or 8 pounds, no more. She started listing all the things we'd have to give up for the first two weeks...no beans, hmm...no rice...ok, I can do that...no bread...not a problem....no tortillas...wait a second...then she dropped the bomb....NO BEER !! .....I asked her, in my calmest voice, if she wanted to stay married or not.......she's thinking it over

Profe, here's a suggestion -- made to keep the sanctity of your marriage intact, heh -- go on the South Beach Diet but give yourself (or yourselves -- as in, you and your wife) weekends off. My sister has been doing South Beach for months now, and with this added caveat (which allows her to drink wine on weekends) has made remarkable strides towards the body she wants, without feeling deprived.

Prof I really prefer Negro Modelo but since I am doing Atkins I get by with Michelob Ultra. It only has 3 grams of carb.

If you do any low carb diet right it involves a lot of work dicing and slicing to make complex salads and veggie dishes.
What my wife and I have come to do is restrict ourselves for two weeks to loose and then have a week or two where we just try to maintain.

There are more items coming out that really help and are good.
Natural Bakery Ovens sells bread at Whole Foods that is only 3 grams per slice and is just as good as regular bread. They also make a Bagel that is not a true bagel with a hard crust but call it a very good seeded bun for 7 grams instead of the usual 40 grams in a real one. Makes an excellant hamburger bun.

Tonight we had a pan seared boneless pork chop and a curry of spinich, green beans, yellow plum tomatos deseeded, scrambled eggs, and a small amount of green peas and red rice with pearl onions and pine nuts. It had hot sauce, green curry , yellow curry and a few scraps of diced chicken with molé sauce from last night.
no salad tonight because we had that for lunch.

We do a lot of omelettes.
Asperagus with white cheese.
Mushrooms and cheese.
Pepper, onion, and hot suasage & cheese.
Hot Italian sausage with spinich and cream cheese.

All I can say is when I count calories I can't lose anything at 1400 calories. With Atkins I do. Also my cholesterol has gone down 40 points.

Since it is so hard for me to lose I also started using the starch blocker pills anytime I eat anything with startch in it such as the little bit of peas and rice in the curry tonight. Even if it isn't that much every little bit helps over a couple months.

Gravid, there's a low-carb malt beverage available in Michigan called Thin Ice. 90 calories, 1-1/2 carbs per bottle, 5% alcohol.

http://www.drinkthinice.com/home.html

It's not available in California yet, so if you try it, please let me know what you think. (I might PayPal you a ton of money to ship me a case, heh... )

OK I remember I messed your keyboard up. But do you think Peppermint Schnapps in the keyboard is just retribution? Not to mention up my nose and all over my new checks.
I'm sure we can work something equitable out that doesn't involve mud or naming champions. PayPal works for me.
But your comaraderie is welcome and I thank you for the ego boost.
Now I have to find the stuff.
I do put a dash of lemon juice and a packet of Splenda in my water for dinner and it's pretty good. This stuff sounds like that with a dash of vodka. But being malt base maybe it will have a bigger flavor.

What I really want may be impossible. A good low carb cracker!

hahaha, you do make me smile, sir! My best friend is in desperate need of a low-carb cracker herself. I have looked and looked and will continue to search, and, if I find one, rest assured, you'll be one of the first to know...

Gravid: I think I've hit up on a plan...like you, Negra Modelo is one of my three favorites. They are, in no particular order, Negra, Newcastle Brown Ale, and Guinness....Guinness and Newcastle are far more carby than Negra...so depending on what's in the cooler at the moment, I'll drink two Mich Ultras for each Guinness or Newcastle, and only one for each Modelo...that should offset the carbs in the darker beers nicely...outta keep la esposa happy don't you think?

btw...your menu sounds delish...

...following the tried and true "double whopper and a diet coke" plan

I do a double whopper now and then - hold the pickle hold the lettuce and throw the top bun away. But I can't do the diet coke - the damn things give me a morning headache to beat anything. But their coffee is not too bad in comparison now that McDonalds has stopped serving good coffee.
It just irritates the crap outa me that as soon as they start serving weak crappy coffee they spend a fortune to print fancy cups telling us how Mc Wonderful it is.. I thought maybe they would change it like a couple years ago when they changed the hot cakes to a leaden nasty formula and then quickly back. But it doesn't seem like they will correct this one. That's why I haven't been in a McD's for about two years.

Sorry pat but they only are selling it in the Grand Rapids area and that's too much of a drive from here.
Any Grand Rapids volunteers here?

Hey, Gravid, thanks a bunch for checking into it anyway

I just found out it's available in Oregon. I have a cousin up there who'll send me some.
