i was at costco yesterday (houston) and i paid for my stuff with a personal check as usual.
now i look at their swipe machine carefully and i only see logos of their own costco card and amex,no mc or visa.
so i am wondering why some costco stores will take master charge and some do not??
what about their website?/

I've been to Costco stores in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Los Angeles area. None of them have ever accepted anything but cash, personal checks, or AmEx.

They probably want to avoid Visa and Mastercard fees. They can profit from their own card...especially if it's a revolving charge card.

no,they dont have their own mc/visa card,they do sell gift cards and cash cards.
you can buy a costco giftcard and send it to me or you can load up your costco cash card with money from your bank account and spend at costco.
the only credit card they accept is american express.
but someone here bev?? from ohio said her costco takes mc??

costco does not want to accept mc.visa credit cards because of the discount fee they have to pay,as many of their customers are reseller and buy large lots.
but what is it with amex??is amex waiving the discount fee ??
i believe sam is the same way,no credit cards.
