Bolding is a good way to get your point out... only one of limited intelligence would be against its use.

I don't have a problem with occasional bolding. But when bolding is used repeatedly in long, c&p editorals to selectively present a point of view without other comment, it's distracting and bothersome to read. It's interesting sometimes to note the unbolded portion of those articles which in many cases contradicts the view of the poster.

Generally, I just ignore them.

I wonder, twelvepole why you have such an overwhelming need to insult. I see no evidence that your intelligence is superior to that of other posters here.

Is this ok? This is an occasional bold in this sentence but then is it ok that my sig line is bolded?

Bolding is NEVER a good way to get your point across unless people tend to ignore you and you need to get attention.

Now what are you talking about Kraft? How do you feel about italics? Go ahead, let it all out...

It might only be my perception but it always amuses me how those telling others what they should and shouldn't be doing all the time are those on the left of the political issues.

Appears to me that they have this need to control the behavior of others for some reason. Unable to see that each person brings their own uniqueness and diversity to the table. The same diversity they claim to support. I question the truthfulness of that more and more.

Are you saying Twelve's on the left because he started a post about bolding?

Not at all KD - It was more kiara, helen and your own diatribe about it in another thread that I was referring to and your insulting comments about those who do.

Actually, Linda, Neither Kiara, Kraftdinner or I mentioned your name. We insulted no one.

What I hate most about reading the links that are provided is when someone takes it upon themselves to bold so much in it that it makes it difficult for my eyes to follow smoothly like normal reading.

Those were my exact words, Linda. I said I didn't find it easy to read, but I didn't say to stop doing it. Nor did I insult you.
If you believe that's the only way to post your messages, go ahead and do it.

I get a bit tired of the ones who personally attack me for what I believe in and then take it upon themselves to actually make up things that I've said or twist and turn it into something else and then spread the propoganda from one topic to the next.

Why do I finally react to it? Because I get fed up with the troll messages and I wonder if anyone reading this forum for the first time without being here long enough to judge the person in question really believes the crap they are reading that others write about them.

Don't you think this is all a bit juvenile to attack if you don't have the spine to actually debate and to only attack because someone has different beliefs than you do?

changed "do it" to mean "attack"

Linda, These are my quotes from that thread. nothing insulting.

Good thought, Kraftdinner! Ebay Outlook is interesting in that respect-- where you can find personal opinions rather than long, boring cut and paste articles from somewhere on the internet.

A couple of people here have stated that they don't read long articles with fragmented bolding.

There are more serious issues here to deal with than links to articles. But I agree that more personal opinion and less reliance on copy paste would be a good goal.

In addition to the use of long bolded text, another tactic that I would like to see stopped is the unfair practice of attributing thoughts to posters that they have never stated or inferred.

Nearthesea,

Althought I could provide links, I'd rather not. Just consider it an idea that would improve the debating format here.

Helen

This is my thought... Linda and Twelve spend most of their time posting to us 3, sometimes exclusivly, so they must be jealous or envious of us. (Normal people tend to ignore people they don't admire.) Because we speak the truth, they have to make up stuff and call us names because there's nothing else they can come up with. Think about it - look how we were jumped upon because Kiara and I don't have FOX NEWS!!! You guys are grasping at straws. It's so sadly obvious.

Wait, Kiara. Now that didn't make sense, if someone else has these different beliefs than you do, and posts, then it IS a debate, isn't it?

Ok, sorry, I was being juvenile ... oh well.... twelve dropped this red herring post, so I thought I'd go with it

Personally, I don't have a problem with bolding. It's just a way to draw attention to part of an article you particularly want others to note.

One could, I suppose, just display that section of an article in a thread...but then the reader has to go to the original document and read the whole thing anyway in order to get the context of said section.

So on the whole,I'd prefer that people display the whole article & highlight the section(s) they want read by others.

I'm not taking this personally since I'm not the only one that has posted in this manner - either with c&p or bolding. I am only one of many who do this....including you - but mostly helen.

Then KD complains about copy and pasting in general....questions why people do it....then proceeds to do it herself.

I saw that thread as hyprocrisy at its finest....so I mentioned it.

It was more kiara, helen and your own diatribe about it in another thread that I was referring to and your insulting comments about those who do.

Then why bring my name into it as usual, Linda and say I insulted you when I didn't?

Besides, I seldom bold anything unless it's the title to the article above where I post it. Kraft, Linda can't show you the insults. Neither her or twelvepole have been able to prove any of their claims here for months now.

Linda, you and twelvepole seem to get a certain satisfaction dragging some of our names into everything and now today both of you are grasping at straws again. Don't you have anything better to do than to make up crap about the rest of us? I'm certainly not doing that about either of you.

Is it because both of you are just pizzed at some of us for mentioning things about the war months ago that are all coming to fruition (like not enough troops, not enough security, not understanding the culture there) and you realize that your denials all went down the drain so now you resort to personal attacks because you have nothing left to discuss? Get over it.

kiara - I could also ask - Don't YOU guys have anything better to do that start a thread putting down others - making jabs at them - for things you [collectively] also do?

The attempt to control the behavior of others is clearly noticable to anyone with eyes.

KD - Is this a game like 'tag - you're it'?

Anyone can read the link from the other thread and make up their own minds about who said what and what the purpose of that whole thread [collectively] was about.

My posts just speak to how I see what it was all about. Calling others on the same behaviors you three have done/do yourselves. And about my judgement that it's all a control issue.

I don't feel a need to keep repeating myself....nor to prove anything to anyone. We each see things though our own 'eyes'.

No Near, no trial. Linda said me, Kiara and Helen insulted posters in the "Links" thread. If she can't c&p in this case, to prove her claim it's because she's lying.
