If you have a piece of art of something and it has on the bottom 1000/2 -- does that mean you have number 2 of 1000 prints or pictures done? Does that make the piece more valuable?

I think if you had #1 it would be but if it is under 1000 they are probably equally of of value. I have never seen it written that way it is usually reversed. 2/1000

1000/2 does not make sense... (maybe a dyslexic artist?)
2/1000 is the more common format - think of the / as the word of.
Limited edition prints are more valuable and depending on the medium such as silk screen, wood prints, etc), lower numbers can be better quality and more valuable. Of course that implies that the piece is hand numbered or imprinted. If it s a printed number, all bets are off

!!Thats what was confusing me...lol!...Its backwards!!! Probably a repro or knockoff? (Or maybe because its european? could they do it the opposite way? Its a piece of pottery from germany. shoot, I dunno!)

If it is a litho for example, then 2/1000 would be appropriate. It may be the second printing of 1000 prints. Probably not valuable.
