Putin Takes Bush's Side Against Democrats on Iraq

SEA ISLAND, Ga (Reuters) -

Russian President Vladimir Putin (news - web sites) stepped into the U.S. political campaign on Thursday, saying the Democrats had "no moral right" to criticize President Bush (news - web sites) over Iraq (news - web sites).

The Kremlin leader, answering a reporter's question in Sea Island, Georgia, suggested that the Democrats were two-faced in criticizing Bush on Iraq since it had been the Clinton administration that authorized the 1999 bombing of Yugoslavia by U.S. and NATO (news - web sites) forces.

The reporter had asked Putin to respond to U.S. press articles questioning Russia's place at the G8 feast of leading industrial countries. Putin brushed these off, saying such articles were part of an internal U.S. political debate.

He went on: "I am deeply convinced that President Bush's political adversaries have no moral right to attack him over Iraq because they did exactly the same.

"It suffices to recall Yugoslavia. Now look at them. They don't like what President Bush is doing in Iraq."

Russia was adamantly opposed to the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia, as it has been to the U.S.-led military operation Iraq to topple Saddam Hussein (news - web sites).

At the same time, Putin forged a strong friendship with Bush by offering immediate support in the global fight against terrorism.

Both men go out of their way now to avoid criticizing each other publicly.
----------------

I never thought I'd live long enough to read a Russian leader sticking up for a US President. Simply unbelievable. Wow!!

Hope no one's upset Putin mentioned clinton's name, and brought up clinton's past actions, while making a point on a current issue. lol

Re-elect President Bush!!

"At the same time, Putin forged a strong friendship with Bush by offering immediate support in the global fight against terrorism"
But not with troops or money (AP)
So what with?
Ya, Linda, when all else fails...blame Clinton.
When all else fails blame Clinton.
When all else fails blame Clinton.
When all else fails blame Clinton.

Ohhh, sorry, Linda, chanting doesn't work with us Liberals...we just keep thinking.......
Linda, if your world is so wonderful and you love the saintly Republicans who never do anything wrong...WHY do you keep posting here ...?? I'm just so nosy..er..curious. It obviously isn't for discussion or to learn anything.....It is very strange........
Hey, Linda, just for fun here's a dare for you...tune in Air America (AM) and listen to Big Ed Schultz at 2pm (Central). If you can listen to him for an hour or two, or even call and talk to him...wow, I will bow before you!
Or take a peak at his website...c'mon, double dare!
But hurry...I really won't have time to post anymore and would love your response to him.

LOL, dave! How right you are. I'm getting a bit tired of Linda's constant "Clinton" comments. Seems she is dwelling in the past. . .hmmmm maybe she's had a breakdown. It would seem the right cannot look into the future. In fact, they have a hard enough time looking at the present. The past is where they live. If they could see into the future, they'd see that with this current administration the future is very dim.

On another note, this just in from the UK (way to go Britain's! You are far wiser than we). For those who don't know it, the Labour party is Blair's.:

The worst-ever performance by a governing party saw Labour slip to third place in terms of the popular vote in local elections held yesterday.

They don't have the ratings to keep in the air much longer... even liberals aren't listening LOL

I see you bashing Linda for something Putin said... my oh my digging deep for it there...

You can't comment on the article, so you bash the poster... hmmmm seems alot two-faced to me crowfarm... of course hiding behind that secondary id is always nice... do you feel better about that or you just afraid to use your original id?

Why do you Republicans think that when a Democrat states an opinion it's bashing? You state YOUR opinion....is that how you feel?... that by disagreeing with us you're bashing us?

Air America was the CIA front airline in SE Asia which smuggled various contraband into the US in body bags.

The movie was lossely based on their covert operations.

Maybe Bush could get some advise from Putin, such as how to silence the opposition.

Possibly the finer points of conducting an interrogation.

How to rule with an Iron Hand.

Why Vodka goes better with pretzels than beer.

How to make your opponents disappear.

Bush's daddy has probably taught him all of that. He was the director of the CIA.

See, even the ultimate left -- communism -- doesn't want to side with the democrats. Even communists have standards.

Even communists have standards LOL - I LOVE it.
---------------
reamond - No he's saying it's hypocritical of the democrats to accuse Bush for doing exactly what they themselves did. Putin didn't agree with either invasion but just shows that if he can see the hyprocrisy coming from the left...others can too. Even if it's not the dems here.
--------------

And to the rest who are so upset I bring up clinton....So does the news media - almost everyday....making comparisons. Get over it.

-------------------

On Air-American.....the ONLY reason they're still on the air is 'ol Al is working for free....other wise they'd already be shut down.

Re-elect President Bush!!

Linda,

Somebody has to take his side. Maybe Putin felt sorry for him and is doing this just to prevent his feeling from being hurt.
