Since the article is so long I will give you the URL so you can read it for your self. In it says 30% of the Priests are gay.

kd-There was reference in one of the yeager threads as someone wanted to know the percentage of gay priests. I can't remember what thread it was so I started this one. I don't email threads to my self so it doesn't junk up my mail box but then I forget what ones I want to read. It's call dementia....

If you like meat, you go to a butcher shop. If you like to hunt for Sasquatch you go waaaaaaay back in the woods. If you like to prey on children you go where people trust you with their children. Schools. Churches, day cares, group homes, teen hot lines. Hello? What's hard to understand? The tragedy here is the failure to root it out and the effort to hide it by the Catholic Church hierarchy. Other religions and cults have had scandals concerning this issue.
I can understand the zero tolerance of the Boy Scout leaders, for example. They should, IMO, seek a policy of inclusion. most people, irregardless of their sexual orientation, find this behavior abhorrent.
I remember studies done when we were first learning the magnitude of the AIDS endemic. The fifth vector for getting AIDS was being a priest. I was stunned, this clearly delineated the extent of the problem existent in the religious community at that time. I cannot find my source to cite, but it was CDC funded research round 'bout 1990 or so.

What's hard for me to understand is what gays have to do with people that intrust their children to them. Being gay and being a pedophile are 2 separate issues, just like being straight and being a pedophile are, unless you know otherwise.

There is a good portion of the population who do not see it as 2 separate issues. For the ignorant and uneductaed, they equate being gay with peophiles because all they can think of is how much sex gay men have and they will have sex with anything with a heartbeat. Straight men don't need much sex and wouldn't harm children, if they do they only harm girls not boys. This is the mentality of why being gay = being a pedophile.
