Some friends and I are hoping we can arrange our schedules this weekend to go to one of the Outfoxed parties being held.

Outfoxed is a documentary that has been done about Fox News. Parties are being held across the country--people are hosting them in their homes--to watch it. There will also be an online discussion with the film's producer/director. I found 5 of these parties within 20 miles of my house.

A DVD of the film is also available for sale online. You can see clips and a trailer for the film at www.outfoxed.org -- you might have a hard time getting onto the site, though, depending when you try. Traffic is pretty heavy for it and you might want to try getting on after peak hours.

edited cuz there's two "t"s in "pretty"

LOL...this is funny. Maybe I'll go to present some facts the Gore MoveOn.org people don't want mentioned.

But I really didn't recognize that the success of FoxNews was so very upsetting to the left. To go to all this....they must be real worried about what people will hear on a station THEY can't control...like they do all the others.

Where did you find a list of the parties.

I see Linda found a cut and paste from som eright wing unthink tank blasting this documentary which she has not see.

I'd love to see her show up at any discusssion where she couldn't cut and paste her well thought out viewpoint.

which she has not see

But...but...but... which I've heard O'Reilly himself speak about. Is that acceptable? LOL

Any mention of presenting the other side of any issue is forbidden...according to dave.

Having all sides of a subject allows people to make a more informed decision...it gives others a more balanced insight to the FACTS.

And the facts in this case are that the owner of Fox News...supported GORE....contributed to his election in 2000. Kind of takes away the 'bite' of what they're accused of by the MoveOn supporters about only being a 'right-winged' supporter.

You can find them on www.moveon.org. There's a link for "find a house party" on the home page.

But I really didn't recognize that the success of FoxNews was so very upsetting to the left

Well, I'm not on the left, but from personal experience I can say I am not "upset" by Fox News' success, if you can call it that.

What bothers me about them is the fact that they keep saying they are unbiased when, if you watch it for any length of time you can see just how biased they are.

I wasn't really aware of Fox News until two years ago. I was in an accident and, since I couldn't care for myself very well, I had to stay at a friend's house for two months. And in her house, the minute she gets up in the morning (very early) to the time she goes to bed at night, her TV set is on & tuned to Fox News. Really. All day, every day. The only time she ever changes the channel is if she & her husband watch a movie--and that isn't often.

So for two month solid I watched Fox News. All day long. And the first thing I noticed is just how biased they are. Not only is their news heavily slanted to the right, but they go even further. On their programs, their hosts will invite someone on to speak or be interviewed...if the person happens to hold the same political beliefs or slant as the host, it's, "yes, yes, yes" while their ass is practically kissed. BUT if the person who is invited on the shows has an opposed or divergent belief...and if they dare to actually state it..they are talked over, shouted over, told to shut up (actually heard quite often), and even thrown off the show if they refuse to put up with the put downs and bombastic attacks on their viewpoints silently and actually have the nerve to speak up.

And, as a person who is politically "middle-of-the-road," THAT is what annoys me about Fox News.

The documentary features statements by several ex-Fox News employees that shed light on just how the organization is run. I am very interested in seeing it.

edited to make an "so" an "os"

In fact, if I can't make one of the house parties this weekend, I just may buy the DVD off the Net.

bunni, your story of living with a friend reminds me of when I was staying with a friend for a week one time. She had satellite TV - 230 channels or something. You know what she watched all day and night pretty much? - Judge shows!! Those real life court dramas? It drove me friggin mad! I never knew there were that many, with all the different judges! I'd wait for her to go to bed and see if I could catch the news, or the beverly hillbillys
...something...even a chuckie-chopper info-mercial, to get my head out of the gutter. It traumatizes me just to remember it!
