Last time I posted about the "Doonesbury" comic strip was when that soldier returned from Iraq and said that "bad" word and some papers refused to print the cartoon. Looks like Garry Trudeau has some comments about Bush now.

Wed Jul 14,10:44 PM ET

NEW YORK - Cartoonist Garry Trudeau, who has skewered politicians for decades in his comic strip "Doonesbury," tells Rolling Stone magazine he remembers Yale classmate George W. Bush as "just another sarcastic preppy who gave people nicknames and arranged for keg deliveries."

Trudeau attended Yale University with Bush in the late 1960s and served with him on a dormitory social committee.

"Even then he had clearly awesome social skills," Trudeau said. "He could also make you feel extremely uncomfortable ... He was extremely skilled at controlling people and outcomes in that way. Little bits of perfectly placed humiliation."

Trudeau said he penned his very first cartoon to illustrate an article in the Yale Daily News on Bush and allegations that his fraternity, DKE, had hazed incoming pledges by branding them with an iron.

The article in the campus paper prompted The New York Times to interview Bush, who was a senior that year. Trudeau recalled that Bush told the Times "it was just a coat hanger, and ... it didn't hurt any more than a cigarette burn."

"It does put one in mind of what his views on torture might be today," Trudeau said.

Having mocked presidents of both parties in the "Doonesbury" strip since 1971, Trudeau said Bush has been, "tragically, the best target" he's worked with yet.

"Bush has created more harm to this country's standing and security than any president in history," Trudeau said. "What a shame the world has to suffer the consequences of Dubya not getting enough approval from Dad."

Rolling Stone was publishing the interview Friday.

Kiara, thanks for the article.

I don't think that many people will be surprised that gin-head George started early on being nasty. Probably tortured small animals as a youngster.

This is the type of person who is a physical coward himself but enjoys hurting others just for the fun of it. I'm sure he enjoyed the pictures and stories coming out of Abu Garaib especially since he gleefully Ok'd the torture.

Remeber when he made fun of a woman who was sentenced to death in Texas(Bush's own killing field).

One or more of our resident Bushophiles will probably leap up and accuse you of defaming the president and being a radical liberal who will do anything to malign the man.

Before they do so they should remember that it was revealed by a childhood friend, Terry Throckmorton, when Bush was running for president in 2000 that he used to blow up frogs as a child by putting firecrackers in their mouths...

twelvepole, you can chant over and over ,"reamond is a thief" but that doesn't make it true....just like all the other bumper sticker "ideas" you righties support.

And you can say over and over again, "ain't life grand" but yours doesn't sound too grand no matter how many times you post it...sounds more like a desperate plea than anything else. Just like "Re-elect Bush".

Uh, have you noticed lately that you're more than a little out-numbered....?

You're wrong again.

If you want to avoid the charge of plagiarizing, you have to cite the author and ALSO USE QUOTATIONS, AND/OR INDENTATIONS, AND/OR DIFFERNT FONT SIZE FOR ALL APPROPRIATED ITEMS, and then cite either by word or footnotes the author. To be even more correct and polite you should also include a bibliography listing all the publications from which you derived the writings, ideas, etc..

This is not a professional nor academic forum. This is an informal discussion board where plagiarizing is irrelevant to our discussions. But it is clear to everyone of average intellegence here what is a news article and what was written by the poster.

Twelvepole may also believe that you need a signed release from the individual using that outhouse to use his image on this chat board.

If memory serves me correctly, another poster went off on this same plagiarizing tangent some time ago. It was bear.

Could bear and 12hole be the same person ?

And if not the same person, shouldn't 12hole give a citation to bear for using his (lame) ideas ?

12hole is a plagiarizing thief !! He stole bear's ideas, AND DID PRESENT IT AS HIS OWN, and gave bear no credit !!!

12hole is a plagiarizing thief.

Sorry, reamond, neither bear, twelve or any other rightie on this board ever had an ORIGINAL idea so plagiarism is not an issue.

careful now reamond, you're using 12's standard "takes one to know one" technique...you might have to cite him as your source!

profe51, please provide a proper citation for the quotation "takes one to know one".

I think the author was Moe Howard, but I'm not sure.

Hey, that's nothing. A few days ago, some nutty buddy got upset because I used *her* WORD. She believed that the word "dither" belonged to her because she said it first.

Hahaha

What's Clinton got to do with this? Linda_K, you can barely post anything without relating it to Clinton in some way or another, just so you can type his name.

Clinton is no longer in power. We were discussing Bush here. BTW, here's another Bushism.

Linda, I think you're confused.

Bringing up Bush's past while discussing Bush is not the same thing as constantly bringing Clinton when one is supposed to be discussing Bush...

You do see the difference?

I do find it remarkable that, when unuable to refute a fact about Bush, you immediately bring up Clinton...
