Just wondering how many may venture out this year. I went to the bank today, lines back to the door.Went to the store same. Went to get gas, price was up and lines at every pump. Countys and state had mowed every blade of grass on 127 and picked up all the garbage. I just hope we don't get rain like we did last year. Going to set up the tents on Monday.

Mah,

I've heard you mention the "127 Yard sale" that runs from Alabama to Ohio --usually starting around the middle of August. I'll bet that will be fun for collectors. You must be right in the middle of it since you live in Kentucky.

All you can count on is that those lines will get longer and longer!

I'm in Kentucky,it will run from Alabama to Michican this year on 127. It will be from 8-7 through 8-15. There is also a lot of old stuff for the E-Bayers, been seeing that at the flea market but I don't keep up on the prices in those catagories, although I do think I should have bought some of the items I've seen.

hi terryann, It was a long day made longer by collectors who overbid on just about anything and about 4 million pieces of Red Wing pottery! I don't want to offend anyone's taste but what people see in that gray shi! is beyond me. But a friend got a NICE RW butter churn for only $120.00!
I did get a passel of OLD postcards and found some 1946 Swedish Ocean Liner menus in amongst them. And some cool vintage Christmas stuff including bottle brush trees, some nice old doll clothes, 3 clocks ( a great cuckoo), an egg crate, and a lucite thingy that's too hard to explain..
Couldn't touch the doll kitchen items or toys....collectors went way over ebay prices!

But as always I had FUN! And good food!

I've noticed a real trend in the past 8 years of prices at auctions going over book price on items. We had an antique shop for years and got to where we couldn't afford to buy anything....We priced at half of book, unless it was extremely rare.

If any of your postcards are of Westfield, PA or Knoxville, PA, I collect all items of both. Let me know when you list them.

YAH MAH, old postcards can be very interesting and have great art, too. But I like the ones that have a message written on them from long ago.

Terriann, I didn't see any from PA but will keep looking.
I know what you mean about auction prices going over book or, more importantly, over ebay prices....some people must just get the auction "fever" or have so much money they don't know what to do with it.
At this auction though the only thing going cheap was the furniture....great pieces, secretaries, display cabinets, desks, Hoosiers all going so cheap it was painful.
If I had room I would've bought some just for investment purposes.

This will be our 1st time going to it. Have no idea what to expect but can hardly wait. Leaving Tues. and can only do a portion of it. Probably KY or TN would be, Alabama is a bit far for the time we have. Any suggestions on a particular "section" not to miss would be appreciated. Someone mentioned that it starts in MI this year. Would that be a good place to begin? We're leaving out of IL and can either start on 127 early on or take the interstates down to get to a better beginning point. Would love any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Junction City Kentucky is one of the main areas a ton of people set up at. Great spot for collectables, prices are cheap this year.
