Hi everybody..
I just got news from a dear friend about a terrible tragedy that took place in their home in Franklin County, near Columbus Ohio. It happened a couple of weeks ago, and she has just now had the strength to call. It was a home invasion.. Two were killed and one wounded, her 17 year old son was shot and killed and his friend visiting from West Virginia... Her husband was also shot in the chest but is recovering.
There were five children in the home at the time, her youngest being only 16 months. They have caught the two killers, but one committed suicide, the other is held without bail. The motive was robbery.. and the two killers have a long record of burglary, attempted kidnapping.. so says the papers.
I had to share with you all because frankly, I am in shock and can't make sense of why something like this happens..
Wondered if any of you living up in that area had heard about this.. thanks Maggie

So sorry maggie! It is shocking when violence of this type hits so close to home and to those you care about.
Please call her often and let her know how much you care...it'll help you both.

maggiemuggins, I'm sorry that this happened to your friend.
crowfarm has a good suggestion about you calling often to let her know how much you care, sometimes writing can help lots too. Take care.

I too, am sorry, maggie to hear of such distressing news for you and your friends. I can only say I hope there will be some comfort to be found for you and them. Its very difficult...lots of emotions going on and questioning why..I'm sure. I hope God is with you and them in this struggle to survive such a harrowing experience and I will ask him as a prayer to be there.

What a tragedy. According to your friend's husband, the robbers could have had anything that they owned without killing anyone.

Thank you everyone for your kindness. I finally pulled myself together and went to the gym to work off some stress.
I will offer as much support to her and the family as I possibly can.. although they are feeling angry with God right now.. I hope that their religious beliefs will comfort them again...because there is no way to make any sense of this tragedy and needless loss.. Thanks again .. MM

How horrible! I could never imagine this happening to one of my own children. It's senseless. We recently had a home invasion robbery a couple of streets away. Fortunately, the old man had his wits about him and shot the would be robber. These are desperate times for some and those willing to commit such horrible acts are out there doing it more and more. Our police forces here in Ohio are taxed because lack of money has caused many police departments to lay off officers.
My prayers are with you, Maggie, as well as your friend.

Sorry this has happend, home invasion is becoming a more violent crime as it seems that the scumbags doing this also enjoy violence and inflicting injury...
Hope that person gets the death penalty...

Maggie- Sorry to hear about what your friend is going through. It may take a little while for her to get angry, the shock will have to wear off first. People tend to not want to bring it up for fear of upsetting the family...sometimes that comes across as people don't really care. Emotions are a complicated thing.
This does sound as though the death penalty would be in order, in this case.
