What kind of family values does George W. Bush have? He's got us in a war we shouldn't be in. Soldiers are dying daily. There are more soldiers from the U.S. being killed than any other country aiding us. Doesn't everyone out there think it's ironic that Bush's service records suddenly come up missing? He is not in the same category as John Kerry is in leading this country in the right direction.

Leadership my butt. Bush would not know what to do unless he has someone else right him a response. A leader does not continue to read to children while the country is under attack. America deserves better.

When Kerry was faced with a life or death situation he took action. He did not decide to wait additional 5 to 7 minutes to portray calm to his fellow soldiers.

Rood, who commanded one of three swift boats during that 1969 mission, said that Kerry came under rocket and automatic weapons fire from Viet Cong forces and that Kerry devised an aggressive attack strategy that was praised by their superiors.

What has family values have to do with being the president?

I guess you could say the same for JK. He voted for the war but voted against funding. He lives and serves, misnomer, in a state that does not believe in gay marriages. He believes in abortion and takes communion in the Catholic Church that doesn't believe in abortion. Tell us about Family Values.

No different then Bush waiting for orders before deciding what to do on 9/11. Who was he waiting to tell him what to do, the commander-in-chief? I thought Bush was the commader-in-chief, why would Bush need to wait for orders before acting?

Bush handled 9/11 a lot better than I would have. After 7 minutes of rage, I probably would've nuked every Arab country. And North Korea too, just for the hell of it.

There were no 7 minutes of rage. Bush was clearly bewildered. Of course cheney was taking care of business as usual.

I love how you keep forgetting that kerry voted FOR going to war in Iraq.

Appears kerry's doing more and more to present himself as others see this President....one with family values and religion.

Kerry takes up values theme in Ohio stumping

By Noelle Straub
Monday, August 2, 2004
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -

Stealing a page from President Bush's playbook, Sen. John F. Kerry [related, bio] touted his religious faith and family values yesterday, honing his message for swing voters as he campaigned in the battleground state of Ohio.

``Praise the Lord,´´ Kerry began his remarks at the nondenominational Greater Grace Temple Church in Springfield, Ohio. ``Praise him in his sanctuary. Praise him in his mighty heaven. So it is written in the psalms.´´

Kerry and Sen. John Edwards [related, bio] began the third day of their cross-country bus tour with a stop at the largely African-American congregation and continued hitting the values theme throughout the day.

The Bay State senator, who is Catholic but rarely speaks directly about his religion, yesterday made comments about faith designed to appeal to more conservative voters.

``We look around us in this country, and we see God´s work yet to be done,´´ Kerry said at the church. ``That is what is bringing us here.´´

He quoted Scripture, saying, ``Faith without works is dead,´´ and said he has spoken at the National Prayer Breakfast.

``And we both have been people whose lives have been guided and affected by faith - from Vietnam for me through this day. And for John and Elizabeth through great adversity,´´ Kerry said, referring to the death of the Edwards´ oldest son in a car wreck. The Democrat was following the lead of Bush, who often talks about his Christian beliefs and how they guide his decision-making.

At an afternoon rally in Bowling Green, Kerry tried to paint himself as more in touch with voters' values than Bush. ``It´s time to stop talking about valuing families, and value families,´´ he said. ``You don´t value families when you cut kids from after-school programs and you cut cops so that Enron can get another tax cut.´´
Talking about prescription drug coverage for seniors, he added, ``We believe in the oldest family value of all: `Honor thy father and thy mother.´ ´´
On ``Face the Nation´´ yesterday, Kerry accused the administration of sometimes unabashedly crossing a line and putting his religion into political decisions.
``I´m Christian. I´m Catholic. It´s important to me,´´ Kerry said. ``But as I said in my speech, I´m not going to say God is on my side and I´m not going to go out and divide people. I want to pray that we are on God´s side.´´
-----------------

Hoping against hope that reamond and other agnostics and atheists here see this. kerry doing exactly what drives them nuts when President Bush does the same.

So, Kerry conducted himself appropriately in a church. The sentences that you bold are mostly opinion such as the following one.

"The Democrat was following the lead of Bush, who often talks about his Christian beliefs and how they guide his decision-making."

I always like the sentences that you omit with your bold key, such as this one.

``You don´t value families when you cut kids from after-school programs and you cut cops so that Enron can get another tax cut.´´

``But as I said in my speech, I´m not going to say God is on my side and I´m not going to go out and divide people.

~

The difference, linda is that Kerry doesn't believe like Bush that he has a pipeline to God and that he can ask God when and where to wage war.

As illustrated in the Woodward interview when Woodward asked Bush if he ever asked his father for advice.....Woodward said, "And then he said something that really struck me. He said of his father, 'He is the wrong father to appeal to for advice. The wrong father to go to, to appeal to in terms of strength.' And then he said, 'There's a higher father that I appeal to.'"

Unfortunately, because his father on earth would have given him better advice.

libra says,

I forgot one item. JK has Teresa which probably tells him what to do.

Well Well!!! I think it's fair to say that Bush has the dope, oops I mean the pope to guide him. Really now, why would the president of the most powerful country in the world need advice from a feeble, nearly bed ridden elderly man? An elderly man who is a leader of a country with a population of 890 people. A leader of a country that has no military alliance to the US. A leader of a country that believes women are basically second class human beings.

If JFK even got one word of advice from his wife, you could count on a couple of things. They are...she is capable of thinking clear thoughts. She is able to very successfully run her own business. She has the ability to speak clearly. She can stand and walk on her own. And most importantly, she wouldn't use a book about 2000 + - years old to guide her life and the lives of people around her.

Teresa Heinz Kerry would be a better person to seek advice from on any day of the week, rather than the dope.

Also Libra, aren't you the person who stands in alliance with Bush against gay marriage, that is when he says it under minds "family values"?
