This chat is for those of you with your sales off. - Too many sellers on ebay - Buyers are not hitting the Ebay site anymore. Ebay is trying anything they can. Try and file a NON buyer form. I have yet to find the link today.

When I have been able to sell on eBay, my sales have been up @20%. it's been a really nice little bonus. last night a book closed, and in the last 2 minutes I had 7 bids: it went from $17.50 up to $44.98. I am not doing too bad.

"I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: "I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I do not accept His claim to be God." That is one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic....or else he would be the devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to."

Nope, it wasn't a Bible. It was a copy of Auel's "Clan of the Cavebears" first edition w/o dj.

Christian: I have a question! I sell a lot of books on Ebay. In our little town our thrift shops frequently have all sorts of religious books out, but I've always passed on them. Can you give me any idea of what such readers are looking for these days? Seriously, I'd like to give it a try.

I was talking with a christian book seller that sells on eBay and he says he does quite well. He has a catholic book store in town but he bought from his publisher a 18 wheel truck load of books that the publisher took back from book stores. I asked him about his sales and he said they couldn't be better.

I always look through the books at the goodwill but never find any religious ones. I wonder if they don't put them on the shelves.

Hi all;

I do sell mostly religious books and phamplets. Only recently have I expanded to other items.

Bibles are a hot commodity, but it has to be listed correctly. Make sure you inform them if there are engravings, maps and the like. Make many images with your listing: the clearer the better. and be honest with your listings: if anything, I downgrade my books more then they should, but that gives me many repeat buyers. They know they are getting a deal from me.

Also, any old stuff on J.W.'s, Mormons, Christian Scientists are hot right now. Phamplets published in the 1800's are even better then books.

Make sure you know what you are listing: do some research on your items. I like to use http://dogbert.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchEntry, better known as ABE. It gives me an good idea not only of values of the book I have, but I can glean information when I don't have time to read the book.

Try to clean the boards (covers) of your book before you scan them. Use a slightly damp cloth, and then make sure you wipe it dry. Get a mouldable eraser to remove pencil marks. If a book smells, place it outside on a breezy day where it will not get ruined and let it air out.

I love going to the Salvation Army and such: most books can be purchased for under a dollar, and if you sell it for $20 you've made a pretty good profit.

Research on eBay before you list in a category: where the most hits are is where you want to list.

If you are able, use keywords and dates to attract buyers: most times these are the things that pull bidders in, not just a bland title.

On books I expect to sell for better then $30.00 I always use bold facing: on books that should sell for better then $100 I will often highlight them. And I always use the gallery: my best image is my first one, and that one goes into the gallery.

I hope this helps you all out and gives you a place to start, roadsmith.

In Christ,
Rick
