You can't kick back and relax with people so diametrically opposite from you...
Look how fast the non politcal threads die, look at any light hearted threads... someone throws some politcal agenda into it...
Stopwhinning has a good post going but doesn't want to start his own thread because he knows it will die quick death...

The answer is simple, Twelve. Put those who don't agree with you on ignore. Then you can have your conversations with those you want to speak to.

My suggestion is that you look around and find another board then, Twelvepole. You don't seem to care for many of the posters here so why waste your time whining about them? I've suggested to you several times before that you start your own board.
Invite all your ass-kissing friends over and you can all pat each other on the back and agree with all issues without any of us adding an opposing view.
Maybe call it Twelvepole's Sheep Sheet.

So you answered your own question.
In polite face to face conversation, in a room full of strangers.. one tends to be more tactful, and polite.. age, gender, sex, status .. are all in play and tend to moderate and mask the mood... until alcohol adds into the mix.. LOL
But here on the board, under complete anonymity, one tends to speak their mind, with little regard to others feelings or opinions..
I think this particularly rubs Male posters the wrong way.. especially the older generation of males.. who have grown accustomed to women taking a less aggressive role ... you know where the Master speaks and his woman listens.. kind of thing.. but on the boards gender doesn't come with any advantages.. either way.. all's fair and an equal playing field..

Just because they are opposed to MY politics doesn't mean that we can't talk about other subjects of substance, or without substance. I can think of lots here that I have had good and/or fun conversations with that are politically left thinkers. I kinda even enjoy trading insults or poking fun at some of them, like Crowfarm  The insults that I get in return don't really bother me, for long anyways. They are like dirty water sliding off a ducks back.
As far as the politics on this board goes, I look at it this way. I have my political views and I will vote for whom I want and that won't change. Others have their political views and will vote for whom they want and that won't change either. All this bantering back and forth over politics seems to me to be to no point. Yes, I know some will say they are trying to help the undecided lurkers to make their decision and vote their way. I really don't believe it will make that much of a difference when it's all said and done and after the election ends.
The c&p posts are the worst, I don't want to read a long dissertation from someone that doesn't even post here, I usually just gloss over those ones.
Just my 2 cents worth.

It's not negativity, Twelvepole. It's reality. You should try a dose of it and it may cheer you up.
Perhaps you continue to be a bit overwhelmed by the logical posts from the opposition and you have trouble responding to them because you actually have to think. It could explain why you have no original insults and have to copy others (or copy your own over and over and over again).

Maggie, he's told us every dark secret he has (I know more about Twelve than I know about my parents!), so I'm positive if he EVER had a date, we'd be the first to know.
I can just picture him going into some seedy bar and picking up anyone that will talk to him. He then takes his date back to his pad for some intellectual conversations about gay people, POS countries, and the new 2005 line of coffins. "Now before we get engaged, there are 3 rules that you'll need to learn. 1./ Call me master or his highness in public. 2./ Tell your friends I'm a real man and not a non-man. 3./ Provide a list of girlfriends for me to bang while you're doing the laundry and dishes... when they run out the door, he calls them a #*!@.
