Dick Cheney said the economy is fine because people make money on eBay. But it is the Bush White House that's auctioning off policy to the highest bidder.
What Bush/Cheney auctioned: Medicare
What Bush got: $5.2 million from insurance/HMO industry; $1.4 million from pharmaceutical industry.
What they got: HMOs got $12 billion in subsidies to lure people out of Medicare, and $6.8 billion for privatized "health savings accounts"; drug corporations got $139 billion in projected profits; no re-importation of prescription drugs; and a prohibition on bulk purchasing to lower prices.
What we got: Higher prescription drug prices; highest Medicare premium hike in history.
What Bush/Cheney auctioned: Clean Air
What Bush got: $1.3 million from electric utilities industry
What they got: Rollback in the Clean Air Act that allows coal-fired plants to pollute more; possible "get out of jail free card" from pending lawsuits.
What we got: Likely increase in asthma attacks among children and seniors.
What Bush/Cheney auctioned: Tax Policies
What Bush got: $18.4 from commercial banks, securities firms and accountants
What they got: No crack down on offshore tax shelters; a sharp decline in audits of corporations; capital gains, dividend and personal taxes cut so that investors pay a lower rate than workers.
What we got: $85 billion a year in lost revenue from the off-shore tax loophole alone.
Hmmm! I wonder who will be making up all of this lost revenue?

Nice picture yeager.
I would love to leave Bush a neg for the job he has done the past three years.
Where does he get all that money...He didn't. That is why the country went from having a surplus to having a such a large deficit. DICK CHENEY SUPPORTS MY RELATIONSHIP: People ought to be free to enter into any kind of relationship they want to

parklane64 can't defend Bush Cheney so goes BLAH BLAH BLAH and says NOTHING. Just another Bush voter that wants another 4 years of counting their money while the middle class and working class hurt more.
parklane64 is just another greedy, cold hearted money counter in my opinion. I have asked parklane64 to give me reason to change my opinion and parklane has not. So my opinion of parklane64 remains the same. parklane64 has proved my opinion.
Before you vote think real hard about another 4 years of Bush Cheney and what they will do to this country. Its very scary!!!!

Yea, it's just terrible that the Republicans think people should be able to keep and spend the money they've earned themselves.....rather than be taxed more like the Democrats would do. Dems just LOVE redistributing income and if you don't agree with that...something's just plain wrong with you.

Yeah it is so terrible for the Republicans to keep gaining more and more income while the average worker has to work more and more jobs to support his family.
How many millions does a Republican need to make himself happy?

linda says,

Well linda, again you didn't think before you spoke. The economy of this country and other industrial countries have been made better by redistributing money. When money flows, then the economy does better. When money sits and does nothing the economy suffers.
What do you think would happen if we didn't have labor unions in this country. The employees of say for example, the Big 3 automakers would be paid less. When they are paid less, they spend less. When they spend less, the economy slows down. So for every dollar that is spent by the auto worker, the economy flourishes. What would happen if the auto worker was paid 8.00 an hour. Currently they make in the area of 18.00 an hour. That extra $10 per hour is $400 per week. When they spend the extra $400 it helps everyone. There is a saying in economics, "nothing happens until somebody buys something".
Now, I do agree with you that people should be able to keep what they earn, but on the other hand I think that I have shown how spreading money helps the economy.

What a crock. The dems insist that we pay as we go, the reps, including Arnold, cut taxes for the rich and then borrow the money.

Ugh...one difference between the dems and the republicans, the dems want to take our money and then spend it how THEY see fit. Dems seem to think our government can do a much better job of spending it than can the person who actually earned it themselves. I don't happen to agree, to say the least.
Socialism stinks and that's where the democratic party is heading....quickly.
I'd rather spend my own money - not give more to the government for re-distribution, thank you anyway.
Now if YOU think the government can spend your money better than you can - because they're much more capable of knowing where it should be spent than you do...go for it. Let them spend your money....not MINE.

"The Republican convention, when they went to New York, they spent $255 million. Boosted the economy by $255 million. When the Democratic convention was in Boston, they only brought in $14.8 million. People wonder why. Well, sure, Democrats don't like spending their own money. Everybody knows that."
Hey! it turns out the administration's own figures indicate that the agenda Bush has been laying out since the convention represents in excess of $3 trillion in spending. Remember all those promises you were worried about???

Here's an interesting fact, the Republican Convention boosted the New York economy $255 million. But the Democrat Convention in Boston only netted it $14.8 million. People wonder why it was so much less? Sure, Democrats don't like spending their own money. ....Jay Leno Hey, hey Ho, ho Kerry - sign the 1-8-0

I would like to see Bush spend his own money on the war in Iraq instead of spending money and the money of future generations.
Bush signed the NCLB Act and then made the states fund it.
Bush is good at letting others pay for his initiatives.
