How sleazy does it get. The mother of dead soldier, arrested outside of a Bush rally, for wearing a T Shirt that said "You Killed My Son"

Anytime there was anybody from the Bush camp here in Michigan, the news media indicates the people listening to either George or Laura Bush was invited to the speaking occasion. Like recently she was in Saginaw talking to a group of business women. In Royal Oak she was speaking to an group of local business people. This too was invitation only. This keeps the riff raff (questioning citizens) out. I wonder if the Bush camp knew that Royal Oak is a major gay hub in Michigan. Oh, no! Another one of those damn gay threads.

1. She was a ticket holder to the event.
2. She was outside the venue talking calmly to the press when she was handcuffed and arrested by the Bush Nazi Gestapo.
She was arrested for wearing a t-shirt asking Bush why her son was killed in Iraq and for trespassing.

According to SFGate.com:
As shouts of "Four More Years" subsided, Niederer, standing in the middle of a crowd of some 700, continued to shout about the killing of her son. Local police escorted her from the event, handcuffed her and put her in the back of a police van.
Niederer was later charged with defiant trespass and released.

War and death go hand in hand. If that service man didn't want to go to war why did he inlist. I know he wasn't drafted because there isn't a draft. It was a easy way for a male, or female to collect a paycheck, have health benefits, along with a guarantee for money to go to college. It sounded good but the other side of the coin is there was a war.
My sympathies are with the mother but she had to know the consequences when he inlisted.

Oh right, Libra, he deserved to die! How dare the mother grieve KNOWING her son may be killed.....maybe she should wave a flag and kiss bush's asp!
You're all heart, sweetcheeks!

"The other side of the coin" was that it is a needless war. Having noted that, I believe that this mother deserved more respect whatever garment she chose to wear or whatever message she chose to deliver. The callous and insistive feelings that I read here about those who are killed in a NEEDLESS war is inexcusable and leaves you all looking like a bunch of heartless clods.
In July, Bush was informed by a National intelligence estimate that the Iraq war is FUBAR with NO resolution in sight. Bush continues to ignore such advice despite the rapidly escalating number of dead soldiers every month. This poor mother deserves to have her message heard because you won't hear the truth from Bush.
Suffice it to say that I have a expletive deleted message for all of you who choose to find fault with a grieving mother who wore the truth on her T Shirt.

I saw the actual film of what happened. She was outside the event and calmly talking to reporters when the Brown Shirts arrested her.
Then a Brown Shirt came up and arrested her and cuffed her.

When I first saw the thread, I didn't realize it happened here. She started screaming during the First Lady's speech and the crowd drowned her out.
Police escorted her outside to the reporters. They asked her not to stand in front of the doors. She started screaming "Go ahead! Come on, arrest me right here in front of everybody. Go ahead!"
NJ State Police wear blue.
I didn't think it possible, but the article said Laura was here because LAST WEEK Kerry was favored by 4pts in NJ, this week Bush pushed 4 pts AHEAD. That's a lot of electoral votes. I think Zogby said he was moving Michigan from iffy to a solid red state also.

As I could only imagine the pain of mothers (and fathers, brothers, sisters, wives/husbands) of soldiers killed in Iraq.
I could only say if one of my own died before me, it would be the worst thing I could ever think of.
Helen, why (and I think your referring to Laura Bush?) is she a stepford wife? (though this may be off topic, and I apologize ahead of time)

When Laura Bush was trotted out to make the stem cell announcement, she agreed to go along with Bush's decision to appease the right wing fundamentalists by impeding stem cell research. I believe that she then became, without a doubt, a mindless stepford first lady. Theresa Kerry would not agree to be anyone's lap dog and I admire her for that.
While millions of people were hoping for the benefits that stem cell research will eventually make possible, Laura dashed those hopes when she announced...."embryonic stem cell research is "very preliminary right now, and the implication that cures for Alzheimer's are around the corner is just not right." She omitted the fact that there are other life saving benefits that will be possible with stem cell research.

What's fascinating about this conversation is how some focus on this woman as a criminal, instead of this woman as a grieving mother who has seen her child's life thrown away on the grounds that Iraq was a threat to us when it clearly was not.

When people join the military, they (stupidly) assume that their president will send them to conflicts which are vital to the national security of the USA. I don't think it is a good excuse to say that because these people join the military, the president can send them wherever the hell he wants w/o valid justification. The conflict in Iraq doesn't have a justification, not even an iota of a justification.

It might also be that these people are sick and tired of being unemployed. Many are likely without any money or any other source of income. Because of the failing Bush economy, they were basically forced to enlist.
