Russell Train, headed the US Environmental Protection Agency under Nixon and Ford, and is a recipent of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
"..environmental policies of the bush administration have been an appalling disgrace. As a lifelong Republican who has worked for decades to protect and restore clean air and clean water, I find this turning back of the environmental clock profoundly disturbing."
David gardiner, served in the Clinton administration as executive director of the White House Climate Change Task Force and as assistant administrator for policy at the Environmental Protection Agency.....
"President Bush has pushed an irresponsible and outdated policy that promotes dirty technologies of the past and advances short-term interests of the big energy companies. .....this administration developed it's energy plan in secret meetings with leaders of major energy companies, while excluding those with alternative views. Their plan has left us with oil at $50 a barrel, $2 gasoline, and more pollution."
Under bush:Pollution Control: Relax emissions and enforcement programs for utility companies. Energy policy: Promote increased oil and gas production in wilderness areas set aside for conservation. Global Warming: Pull out of international agreements.
Wilderness: Expand logging and road building on protected lands , halt efforts to create new wilderness areas. Endangered Species: Resist listing of new animals and plants for conservation, reduce habitat protection for listed species.
There isn't ONE issue in this campaign but many and the air you breath, the water you drink, and the environment you desire is at stake.
