Who would I choose to be in a foxhole with? Let's see, Kerry is a godless liberal while Bush is a devout Christian. I'd pick Bush.
I think that you might pick Bush because he just might have a hip flask full of whiskey.
Bush is a bible thumper, NOT a devout christian. A christian is a person who has had a lifelong devotion to his religion. Bush has not. He one day "got religion" and has thumping a path towards his salvation everyday. And while doing this, he has involved his office to further his believes, that he likes to IMPOSE on EVERYONE.
And that makes him a bible thumper.

I'd choose Bush and a tape recorder. I'd love to pick his brain! He'd be so sick of me after a few hours, I know he'd confess to everything.

Me too!
EAG, What is your thought of Bush when he was free wheeling his life until the age of 40 when all of the sudden he became "religious". For example, when he was large amounts of booze on a daily basis, or snorting a few lines of crack? Was he a devout christian at that time?

Most of us did stupid things when we were young and irresponsible. In fact, if I ever were to meet my younger self, I'd probably kick my ass!

ebayauctionguy, no fear I am betting a lot of guys on my side would save you the trouble and kick your ass for you. Then we would wipe your running nose with your diaper. After that we would take you home to make sure your Mother gave you cookies and milk before nite nite.

Is 40 years old a license to be "young and irresponsible"? Most mainstream 40 year old men in this country are quite established in a normalized life. Now we have the president of the United States who was drinking on a regular basis and using crack too. That is in no way mainstream behavior.
Bush in fact contributed to the US drug problem every time he used drugs. Selling drugs as well as using them is a crime. Bush has a criminal background.
The only thing worse than that, is the fact people like you support him.

Well, bush would never be in a foxhole, he gets out of that kind of stuff ....if he was, that chickenship piece of wholesale cowardice would be too busy wetting his pants to talk, he'd just blink a lot and cry for his daddy!
"Bush feels. The press, so far, does not. In grappling with Bush’s presidency, it has expanded its range, developed a more nuanced understanding of traditional Christian fundamentalism, recognized liberal evangelicalism, and acknowledged the limitations of Enlightenment thinking. But it still can’t account for the kind of magic that says, If you believe you can do something -- become president despite losing the popular vote, launch a war without evidence, and maybe, if you REALLY believe, get re-elected anyway -- you can.
And....
As God Is His Witness...Bush is no devout evangelitical. In fact, he may not be a Christian at all.
Excerpt...
In Exodus, the Ninth Commandment admonishes, “Thou shalt not bear false testimony against thy neighbor.” God wasn’t joking around there. But time and again, Bush and Rove have relied on repugnant lies to discredit their opponents. In the final days of the Texas governor’s race in 1994, barroom rumors swirled that Governor Ann Richards was a lesbian, and that she had appointed “avowed homosexuals” to her administration. Those rumors were lies, but Bush won the race.
In 2000, Bush squared off against John McCain in the hotly contested Republican presidential primary in South Carolina. Rather than go one on one with the war hero and popular pol, Bush let shady henchmen do his dirty work for him. In the final days before the showdown, Bush supporters waged whisper campaigns and distributed parking-lot handouts spreading the vilest of lies: that McCain was mentally unfit to serve after his long captivity in Vietnam; that his wife was a drug addict; that the senator had fathered a black daughter with a prostitute.
Bush won that race, too.
Little has changed this time around. When the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth emerged this summer to attack John Kerry’s admirable military service in Vietnam, veteran observers of past Bush campaigns immediately recognized Karl Rove’s handiwork. And with less than a month to go until November, the conservative Sinclair Broadcast Group abruptly preempted regularly scheduled television programming to air a propaganda film that denigrates Kerry’s war record. The media markets affected by this decision just happen to be in swing states.
Just how low will George W. Bush stoop for a victory?
Forty democratic senators were gathered for a lunch in March just off the Senate floor. I was there as a guest speaker. Joe Biden was telling a story, a story about the president. ''I was in the Oval Office a few months after we swept into Baghdad,'' he began, ''and I was telling the president of my many concerns'' -- concerns about growing problems winning the peace, the explosive mix of Shiite and Sunni, the disbanding of the Iraqi Army and problems securing the oil fields. Bush, Biden recalled, just looked at him, unflappably sure that the United States was on the right course and that all was well. '''Mr. President,' I finally said, 'How can you be so sure when you know you don't know the facts?'''
Biden said that Bush stood up and put his hand on the senator's shoulder. ''My instincts,'' he said. ''My instincts.''
Biden paused and shook his head, recalling it all as the room grew quiet. ''I said, 'Mr. President, your instincts aren't good enough!'''

Oh Twelve ...how can you say anything so goofy,
"If you want someone that would stand there and fight... President Bush is your man..."
Uh, twelve,
If bush was in a foxhole he'd SEND YOU to fight.
Yoohoo!, twelve, bush was too scared to fight in Vietnam, he DIDN'T go.....what can't you understand about that fact.

When Vietnam was going on there were lots of Cowards who weren't willing to fight.
They all ran and hid in Canada.
But thanks to "Carter" we are all once again honored with their presence!
Yoohoo!, twelve, bush was too scared to fight in Vietnam, he DIDN'T go.....what can't you understand about that fact.
If Bush didn't go it was because he didn't have to.
He was in the service and being so the choice was not his to make.
If he didn't go it's because he didn't have to, not because he didn't want to.
What can't you understand about that Fact?

bush joined the National Guard so he could stay in America. he REQESTED that he NOT be sent overseas.
BESIDES WHY didn't he, if he was SO brave and such great leadership material, WHY didn't HE VOLUNTEER to serve his country when it needed him? He could've easily been sent to Vietnam if he chose.....HE DIDN'T !
KERRY DID!

Well....there you are bear. I was wondering where you'd been. Was just about ready to put out an APB for you.

Back then it was a little different.
The Guards and Reserves stayed home.
The Regulars went.
This war for some reason, which I never have figured out is just the opposite.

What makes anyone think Bush didn't go because he didn't want to?
If he didn't go it's because he didn't have to.
And
What makes you think Kerry wanted to go?
When he joined he probably thought he'd be floating out in the ocean, miles from the action.
I really doubt he thought he'd be in country sitting in a bathtub when he joined.
You all think Clinton was such a great leader, why didn't he go?
Instead he choose to run to England and have tea with the Queen.
Nobody wants to go to war, and they sure as Hell don't go out of their way to get there.
Although there are some who do find it exciting.
Hell when I got out of school at 18, I avoided the service under a deferment.
But when I turned 19 I gave up my deferment and went 1-A.
Wasn't an easy thing for me to do but I did just the same.
Didn't mean I was looking forward to getting my Ass shot off.
And on the same hand I wasn't Gung Ho on killing either.
I don't think less of Bush for not going,he did join.
And
I don't think Kerry was a hero because he went.
I went, my friends went, we all came home with at least a Purple Heart.
Some of us more than one,and some of us higher medals.
That doesn't make us world leaders!
Of all the leaders "Clinton" is the one I have the most contempt for, he ran to England.
Might as well have run to Canada with the rest.
But you all Love him and what he did was a lot Worse than what Bush did and you hate him for what he did.
And "Kerry" coming home to join forces with Hanoi Jane!
And you now want him to be your guiding light!
