The dems are doing a great job of turning voters off with the continuing attacks of the families of their opponents.

First edwards using Cheney's daughter for political gain, then kerry doing the same thing, then cahill saying 'she's fair game' and now the Internationalist wanna-be First Lady slamming the First Lady, Laura Bush.
---------------

So....Tha-RAY-sa once again puts her foot in her mouth by speaking of something she didn't have a clue about....even though MOST everyone in American knows Laura Bush was a teacher/Librarian. But obviously that knowledge was something that had escaped THK. ----------

A 'Real Job'? It Works for Laura Bush

By Hanna Rosin
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, October 21, 2004; Page C01

If there is one taboo in campaign mud fights, it's girl-on-girl slaps. Wives and children are off-limits, especially to each other. Tipper and Hillary kept it together in public for all of those years, even through all the tensions. When Barbara Bush was asked what she thought of Geraldine Ferraro and said "it rhymes with witch," it was as if she'd peeled off her gloves on television and bared her unmanicured claws.

"Catfight!" yelled the frat boy lurking in all of us. And now the moment is here again. Not in the prom-dressing-room whispers of Barbara Bush but from the bored chaperone voice of Teresa Heinz Kerry.

"Well, you know, I don't know Laura Bush. But she seems to be calm, and she has a sparkle in her eye, which is good," Heinz Kerry said in a USA Today interview published Tuesday. "But I don't know that she's ever had a real job -- I mean, since she's been grown up."

A real job?
For one thing, no one says "real job" anymore. The correct term these days, and for the past 20 years, is "a job outside the home."

For another, everyone knows that Laura Bush was a librarian and a teacher.

that's everyone EXCEPT Tha-RAY-sa

Just yesterday she talked about it again for the millionth time in one of those standard first lady events honoring great history teachers.
Never mind that she hasn't taught in nearly 30 years and that she quit as soon as her future husband proposed.

Laura Bush will always be, in the public imagination, The Librarian. Even for Democrats, who like to fantasize that behind her smile lurks a curious, even progressive ally, their spy in the White House, reading with her Itty Bitty book light in bed late into the night.

Plus Heinz Kerry has to know that everyone loves Laura Bush: women, men, Democrats, children. Her approval rating is just about her husband's plus Dick Cheney's, the highest of anyone in the administration.

Within hours after the USA Today interview was highlighted on the Drudge Report yesterday, Heinz Kerry realized her mistake and apologized. "I had forgotten that Mrs. Bush had worked as a school teacher and librarian," she wrote in a statement, "and there couldn't be a more important job than teaching our children. As someone who has been both a full-time mom and full-time in workforce, I know we all have valuable experiences that shape who we are. I appreciate and honor Mrs. Bush's service to the country as first lady, and am sincerely sorry I had not remembered her important work in the past."

But here Heinz Kerry just stepped into it deeper. Again, she was repeating that Laura Bush only had a job when she had a paying job, and not during all those years she was raising the twins, or supporting her husband, or being first lady, or all those other things one is not allowed to define as the opposite of job.

And Bush adviser Karen Hughes, who famously left the White House to spend more time with her husband and son, picked up on that instantly. "Well, I think it's very nice that she apologized, but in some ways the apology almost made the comment worse because she seems to have forgotten that being a mother is a real job," Hughes said on CNN. "Again, I think her comment threw an inappropriate wedge between women who choose to work at home and women who choose to work outside the home. I think most women -- and most men -- would be offended by that because most women want to be able to choose to do what's right for them, whether it's to stay with their families and work at home or to work outside the home pursuing a career."

Republicans have gotten sophisticated about feminism. Laura Bush does not stand up at "W Stands for Women" rallies and hand out her cookie recipes. She talks about how, in her husband's administration, "there are more women in senior positions than in any other presidential administration in history." She talks about how "across America, millions of women are raising families, working full time, going to college, starting their own businesses."

If you are in the audience in your business suit, she's speaking to you. If you're pushing the stroller, she's speaking to you. She's not Jackie O, and she's not Hillary. She's just a reflection of you.

So it's no surprise that yesterday she played the role of Melanie to Heinz Kerry's Scarlett.
"Mrs. Bush knows that some days are more difficult than others when your husband is running for president," said her spokesman Gordon Johndroe, "and she has a lot of empathy for her."

Poor linda, acknowledges that women like Theresa make her want to gag and now that she has no ammunition against John Kerry except for having a bad tan she's now googling away digging up the horrible sins of Theresa.

Then there is linda's "Hysterical Women" thread where I firmly put her in her place about hysterical women.

But both of these threads leads me to believe that linda really hates women. Hence , what I believed all along seems to be true...it's linda that hates linda the most.

linda, I don't know what you mean by "proven liar" except that every time I prove you wrong or point out how you made a fool of yourself you call me a liar.

linda, others read these posts.

Why don't you grow a backbone and actually answer my posts instead of cowering in fear and hysterically crying "she's a liar"
everytime I prove how wrong you are.

linda,

I agree with crow on this. Most people that are always finding something wrong with others, usually hate themselves first.

There are people here that make an issue of her wealth, her hair, and what she says. She is not running for any office, so why would you have the need to do this?

Could it be that you are jealous of her wealth, looks and articulation.

I choose to talk about what's in the news, yeager....just as you choose to always start threads about gays. We do it because we can.

I want as many to know the character of the kerry clan as possible before they make the HUGE mistake of voting them into office. And this is just one more 'foot in mouth' that she's made when they're not keeping her out of sight.

And Tha-RAY-sa is how SHE demands her name be said. Rather than Tha-REE-sa.

I see you're still cowering, linDUH(that's how I "pronounce" it)

Do you really thinks that a few social gaffs negate all the good, charitable work, education, success, and intelligence of Theresa?
No, linDUH, it doesn't.

Your bitter, ugly jealousy of women like her is showing. Just your making fun of a person who wants their name pronounced to their liking shows how petty and shallow you are.

I'm sure Theresa has had zits, too, but let's not hold it against her.

linda says,

And this is just one more 'foot in mouth' that she's made when they're not keeping her out of sight.

I guess you're right on the term foot in mouth. It's sort of like when Bush said of the reporter not knowing that he had an open mic. "He's a real ass*hole" and Cheney replies, "Yeah big time".

Or like the time Cheney said "go fu*ck yourself" to someone he didn't like.

These are public officials, and are supposed to be educated people. Why would they have the need to speak this way about others? Possible they don't have control of their thoughts, behavior, and the ability to hold their tongues.

At least Theresa realized her mistake and apologized for it the very same day. That is more than I can say about Bush and Company with their mistakes with Iraq and the economy.

If she did helen....she wouldn't be apologizing for the totally false claim she made against the First Lady, because she would have THOUGHT before engaging her loud mouth BEFORE making such a stupid, untrue statement to jab Laura Bush.

In addition she was trying to divide the woman who think staying home and raising their own children is very much an important job, vs those who choose to work outside their homes.

Just like kerry she's a divider...not a uniter.

Helen, I would have to agree with your statement above. Linda did agree Theresa has more class the Laura Bush or any current occupant of the White House. I think Linda is finally beginning to see the real picture. Perhaps that bible belt dope is starting to wear off and Linda is waking up from that drug induced coma she has been in for the past four years.

And as far as being a uniter, Bush and Company would not be able to unite peanut butter to jelly on two pieces of bread yet alone unite this country. In fact Bush has done just the opposite over the past four years. This country is more divided on practically every issue.

Linda - I am just curious - do you have something against her using the proper pronuncian of her name as determined by her family? You constant use if phonetics honestly just seems so petty and childish I would not have expected it from you.

Do you honest expect people to "americanize" the pronunciation of their name when they move here? I can just see the furor now from the religious right regarding heresy if that same standard was adopted by all the thoe named Jesus.

Well, I'm LOL about linda's pathetic attempt to discredit me because she's so afraid of my posts.

She's such a typical neocon that she thinks if she says I'm a liar enough times it'll be true.

Well, what's true is I have linda whipped!
Shake the chair and crack the whip and she starts crying.

Standing directions for linda:
1. Open giant mouth.
2. Insert foot.

She says, "In addition she was trying to divide the woman who think staying home and raising their own children is very much an important job, vs those who choose to work outside their homes."

Divide the woman how? By cutting her in half? linda, I've told you before and I don't want to have to say it again. Now pay close attention....woman is singular. Plural of woman is women. (whip crack)

Not at all fenix - and I believe this is the FIRST thread I've ever phonically spelled her name the proper way. It's how she demands people pronounce it. So I am doing so.

Childish? lol - Yes, she says all these outrageous things and that's okay...but most will just avoid acknowledging HER statements and try to change the focus on to me. And I'm being childish??? ....guess I just disagree on that one.

::Not at all fenix - and I believe this is the FIRST thread I've ever phonically spelled her name the proper way. ::

I grant you that - I was reffering to this initial post where you used that rather unique spelling so frequently.

::It's how she demands people pronounce it. So I am doing so. ::

You mean that has the gall to ask people to pronounce her name correctly? Yeah - you're are righ - that's just ballsy. I'm willing to bet she would also appreciate it being spelled correctly.

(BTW - You would go and highlight perhaps the most collectively horrendously typed sentence I have created in many a day - that was just mean... I may just be permanantly scarred by that one )

::And I'm being childish??? ....guess I just disagree on that one. ::

Come on Linda - you don't think it being just a little bit childish and honestly a little disrespectful to make fun of the pronunciation of a foreign born persons name? If your child had done that at as five year old on the playground, isn't that the type of behavior you would have corrected?

Please note that Teresa does not have an H in her first name. So the "add on" interpretation of Teresa's name that the OP put smack dab in the middle of the Washington Post article that was C&P'd looks like the poster is either lisping or drunk each time I see it.

fenix - Not reading rightwinged articles very often, I would bet, you haven't seen just how frequently it IS being spelled that way. I find it amusing. Especially when she's so particular about how her name is pronounced but has not qualms at all spitting out false information about our classy First Lady.
