The sanctity of marriage at its finest.

Good observation, Logansdad.
Latourneau, who raped a child and abandoned her family may now enjoy the blessings and priviledges of a holy and sacred marriage bestowed upon them by those who believe that only a man and a woman can marry.

It doesn't matter what happened in the past of those getting married as long as the marriage is between a man and woman.

Maybe we should pass a law prohibiting marriage to anyone that is convicted of sex crime.

How old was this "child" at the time of the "rape"?
I agree with Bunni- He's of the majority now. If he wants to make an honest woman out of her, it's none of my business. But I'd be surprised if it lasted very long.

He was 12 or 13 at the beginning, I believe. She had a child by him. Then, a year or so later, she had another child by him. She went to jail. She was relieased this year on the understanding that she stay away from him. But then he said, since he is an adult now, that the court had no right to forbid him from seeing her. The court conceded the point. Now they are married.
Will it last? Maybe not--a large percentage of marriages don't. But since he's over 21 now, that's their business.

I agree that it's their business now. Hopefully she will attempt some reparation by making sure that he receives the education that she interrupted.
