One night, John Kerry was awakened by George Washington's ghost.
Kerry saw him and asked, "George, if I'm elected President, what is the best thing I could do to help the country?"
"Set an honest and honorable example, just as I did," advised George.
The next night, the ghost of Thomas Jefferson moved through the dark bedroom.
"Tom, what is the best thing I could do to help the country?" Kerry asked.
"Cut taxes and reduce the size of government," advised Tom.
Kerry didn't sleep well the next night, and saw yet another figure moving
in the shadows. It was Abraham Lincoln's ghost.
"Abe, what is the best thing I could do for the country?" Kerry asked.
"Go to the theater," replied Abe.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The person who has nothing for which he is willing
to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
