I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread where we can just vent, rant or rave, on anything we like.. on trivial, annoying, irksome things.... or more serious issues....it can be a one time rant or an ongoing venting.. very cathartic.. don't you think?

Okay, I will start my rant about clothes sizes....

It is impossible these days to know what size you wear for any given item..!!

What the hell happened to the size charts?
What the hell is a size 0 ?? And how can anyone be a size O???

What is junior, misses, women, husky, petite, tall, plus, minus etc. etc...
It means that every time you buy something, you have to try it on...!! I hate this..

Remember when your clothes size correlated with your age....LOL that was pretty simple..

Remember when we were teenagers we would knit dick warmers for our boyfriends, with tassels on the end.. LOL..

Hasn't anyone else got a gripe to vent?

My beef is when they play "Patience" by Guns & Roses, I get so ticked off with Axel's voice that I lose my patience.

Another thing that gets me going is those make-over shows where the people end up with teeth that look like Chicklets.

Krafty... Me too! It looks like their teeth no longer fit in their head!
Instead of chicklets though, I think they look more like huge horse teeth.. LOL

Shoes..... shoes piss me off. Went shopping yesterday and bought the pairs of shoes for myself. Now all three pairs of these shoes are going on the same two feet so could someone please explain to me why one is size 9.5, another 8, and still another a 9? And BTW - who the hell are the toesless women that are wearing the heels with the extreme point toes? And what sadistic SOB decided to combine a 5" heel with 1" wide toe? Is the 21st century version of foot binding? It's pretty much a given that anyone wearing those shoes won't be running off anywhere.

OK, nobody gives a red hot damn about what I think of christmas so here goes......

First, if you like, enjoy, look forward to, relax over, have fun with, or would miss, Christmas that's nice.

Second, most people don't. I hear people talk about how the holidays stress them out, how they wish they were over, how tired they are from cooking and shopping, etc.

I did. So I quit.

I've been X-mas FREE for 30 years !!!
All I got from quitting were days off work with no work! Lovely relaxing days in mid-winter with eating, reading(uninterrupted), X-country skiing, antiqueing, more eating, hiking through the woods(NOT to grandmother's house, thank Gawd!), painting, watching movies that I never have time for and doing nothing.

Christmas is for children ?????
Ya, right, I've SEEN children at Christmas and it's NOT a pretty sight!

Gifts? I buy gifts when I decide to buy them, NOT when someone else tells me to. I hate it when someone gives a gift because they feel they HAVE to. That's NOT a gift.

Christmas cookies? If men had to bake them they wouldn't get baked.

If married men had to buy their parents and parents-in-law gifts they wouldn't receive any.

Christmas tree? They're all over where I live, they're alive, and don't need decorations.

Holiday get-togethers...ya, fine, wonderful.....men watching football and drinking and women cleaning, cooking, baking, washing dishes.....gee, I think I'll pass.

Gift exchange at work? PUHlease! Hand grenades are SO expensive!

Peace? Goodwill? Ya....where?

Peace on you Crowfarm.

Actually, I agree with you're basic premise about Christmas and the one thing that I have to rant about is to say why oh why if Christmas is supposed to be a celebration of Jesus birthday and in essence new life then why do people have to set up a dead tree in their homes and sit around glaring at it, commenting on it's beauty and singing songs to it??

In our family we opted OUT of the Xmas gift BS a long time ago. So now my Brother knows what he's getting from me for Christmas. It's the same thing I am getting from him, nothing.

::men watching football and drinking and women cleaning, cooking, baking, washing dishes.....gee, I think I'll pass.::

Crow - you should be at my house. My mother informed my step when he moved in to either learn about football, shut up and watch it or find something else to do on Sundays. Don't think about calling her on Sunday... no one answers the phone. As for my step - he learned about football but the bonus is that he is an amazing cook and especially amazing when it comes to wild game. Rumor has it that there is going to elk for X-mas eve at their house. Yum... I may just have to go home for that one. I enjoy Christmas but usually spend it by myself. It's a great excuse to spoil the hell out of myself (i.e. 3 new pairs of shoes mentioned above) and I take full advantage of it.

I think Christmas can also be a very depressing time for alot of people. Both of my parents were dead by the time I was 23.I remember very fondly of those Christmas's at my grandmothers house in Conn when I was a kid and a teenager.
Everyone was there and it was a great time. Now that most of my relatives have passed on Christmas doesnt have the same meaning. It's a little depressing for me,but I dont dwell on it.

Fenix, your mother is unusual, a rarity and not the norm....more power to her!.

Buy myself gifts?
ALL THE TIME! What I want when I want it at the price I want.
AND, because I gave myself a gift I feel I need to pay myself back so I buy another gift...it's a vicious circle

I can't argue with a word you said Crow..

.. except to say how much joy I get in giving gifts and seeing the babies opening presents at Christmas, the wonder and excitement in their eyes looking at the garish Christmas tree as the lights come on..and hearing us sing carols, visiting Santa in the mall, the wonderful smell of the turkey cooking and the pies baking.. the bottle of Baileys for me and having my kids home with me.. makes it all worth it..

Classic, you act so tough so get over it!
It's another day in the year!
Wanna cheer up! Go to a senior center, hospital, food shelter, homeless shelter and give your TIME to these lonely people....just sit and talk, joke like you do here(only nicer) and you won't be so depressed. Giving makes your adrenaline flow and improves your mood!

Maggie, it sounds wonderful and obviously you don't drive yourself bonkers over it...good attitude.
I have gatherings like this , too, but it's usually spring through fall...lotsa food, a bonfire, kids all over, funny gifts that people buy at garage sales on the way over and lights all over the yard!
Sorry, I dig in my heels when I'm told to do something at a certain time when it ain't the law. As I get older I practice making my life easier and easier....

Good for you Crow! I think that's admirable.

Classic, I'm in the same boat with no family either. I does get to you once in awhile so don't feel bad. On the good side, I always think about how much money I'm saving.

Kraft, classic, fenix,Yellow..etc.. when you say you are alone.. do you mean that your parents have passed? You still have your significant others with you, right? Y'all can come to my house!

Crow, you mentioned that you don't have children. I think it would be different for me too, if that was the case. I can't imagine going to any fuss, if there were no kids. Maggie

Edited to add.. LOL@Classic...

::fenix,Yellow..etc.. when you say you are alone.. do you mean that your parents have passed?::

Mags - no, my parents have not passed, they just live a few states away. As an only child I got very used to being alone early in the game and quite honestly I enjoy it. Being around other people too much drives me insane. We only kids are just bred too selfish and uncompromising to spend too much time with others. I always joke that if I ever get married my husband will have to live next door or in the guest house. Holidays with family are especially trying because the smother factor goes thru the roof. I am doing it this year because once I move down to Mexico it's going to be awhile before I will see them again so I am giving into the guilt........ and the elk

Typical christian Republican, thinks they're too good for anyone who isn't just like them.

Typical Republican, thinks he'd be invited in.

Maggie, my family is gone except for my mom. I'm an only child too so being alone is natural for me. Fortunately, I'm still good friends with all my old boyfriends (all 4,000 of them). They all get along and we get together all the time, so they're like my pseudo parents.

Fenix, you're right on about those pointed space shoes. Are they for entertaining or combat? I remember when guys used to wear pointed shoes. What a drag.

Okay.. being alone isn't a bad thing at all.. sometimes you can be surrounded with people and still really be alone.

I am often alone too, and I quite enjoy my own company! I thought Krafty was married to a rock star.. and Fenix I assumed you were married too.. that's what assumptions get you right.. a big ole bag full of "WRONG".. LOL...so you're being married to a rock star was just a fibber? I honestly believed you, Krafty! Or was it Kiara who is married to a Rock Star?

[email protected] democrat smell that I am aware of.. and yes to the indoor plumbing as long as the electric is running and the well is pumping..
