Jury recomends DEATH

Americans again prove Pres Bush is the best man for the job

Bear, I was pretty sure that's what they'd come back with. Did you think that?

Being againt the death penalty, I think it's sad news, even though I believe he's guilty. LWOP would have been more suitable in this particular case, imo.

Classic, nope, don't think her family is upset at all

Kraft, I wouldn't worry too much about this death penalty sentence, IIRC, in CA, they usually sit on death row until they die of natural causes.

They said that with the death penalty he would probably live longer than if he got life without parole... they said he would be protected in solitary confinement on Death row.. but if he was serving life out among the inmates, he would probably be killed within the year...

Classic, I don't know what they do in CA, only lived there for a short time. I live in WA, and I believe the person on death row gets a choice; hanging or lethal injection, and yes, some do opt for hanging.
Before they came up with the lethal injection, it was just hanging. Hey but Utah? I believe still has the firing squad on the books, unbelieveably.....

Quote

"In January 1993, a new law went into effect allowing inmates to choose lethal injection or lethal gas as the method of execution. In August 1993, condemned inmate David Mason was executed after voluntarily waiving his federal appeals. Because Mason did not choose a method of execution, he was put to death by lethal gas, as the law then stipulated.

In October 1994, a U.S. District Judge, Northern District (San Francisco) ruled that the gas chamber was cruel and unusual punishment, barring the state from using that method of execution. That ruling was upheld by the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in February, 1996.

That same year, the Penal Code was modified to state that if either manner of execution is held invalid, the punishment of death shall be imposed by the alternative means. The law further stipulated that lethal injection become the "default" method of execution should an inmate fail to choose. Serial killer William Bonin was executed on February 23, 1996 by lethal injection, the first California execution using that method."

Kraft, I was surprised when they found him guilty, but wasn't when they recommended the death penalty.

Because of the lack of strong evidence in the trial, Bear?

I wonder what this assh*le thinks about the way the killers kills his victims?? Mercy killing??

my favorite was the electric chair-especially when it malfunctions like it did down in Fla years ago. The scumbags hair caught on fire and when I heard about it, it took me an hour to stop laughing.

All this debate about "cruel and unusual".

They did the last serial killer in Russia by shooting him in the back of the head when he wasn't looking.

Yep, it was an HBO movie (Citizen X) starring Stephen Rea as a police inspector who caught Anatoli Chikatilo, who ran rampant for years because the government would not report the killings or let the inspector consult the FBI on serial killers.

Crow - actually the last sports star charged with killing his pregnant girlfriend (actually having her killed) is far from free. Ask Rae Carruth
~~~ • ~~~ • ~~~ • ~~~ • ~~~
If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?
Kraft, exactly. I still don't think the prosecution proved their case.
