Only a handfull of people have appeared on the Times cover twice and one, FDR, appeared on it three times. Now President Bush has been awarded this honor?? for the second time. I'm sure it was a hard thing for Time to do. But they did and some feel it's because they want to give the appearance of keeping up with what the American people support. Otherwise, their readership may slide down some.

With four more years to go...maybe President Bush will make it two Presidents to have that honor.

Yup, just like Stalin , Hitler, Ayatollah Khomeini, Richard Nixon.
Uh, it's a publicity gimmick created by Time and does not pick the nicest most honorable person for the photo but, for better or worse, the person who has most influenced events in the preceeding year. Bush qualifies as he has killed and maimed so many people, affecting countless more lives.
It does not mean he is a great man or honorable man as we all know the truth of this devil personified.

Must have been a tough choice for Time. Bush, Michael Moore or Karl Rove.

I should find out how I go about canceling my subscription to Time.

logan, don't cancel your subscription...remember "Person of the Year" is a sales gimmick and you already bought the magazine. It was a tight race for them to choose between Rudy Guiliani(sp?) and Osama bin Laden, too!

Remember , the person picked is not necessarily being "honored", it's just being pointed out that they had an "effect" on the preceeding year.
And, Time has chosen decent and honorable people in the past and I'm sure they will again.

Here's the complete list of those named "Person of the Year" by Time.

http://www.time.com/time/personoftheyear/archive/stories/

Linda, according to this list, George W. first got on the cover because of the unusual "election" - nothing more.

The computer was hailed to as "person" of the year. Wasn't ET also honored one year? I might be wrong on that.

linda, did you see that Mikhail Gorbachev was honored twice, as was Joseph Stalin. Some of the others that were mentioned were

1974: King Faisal
Saudi led OPEC price hikes that roiled world markets.

1975: U.S. Women
Refusing to play second-fiddle, women asserted their equality.

linda, if I were you, I would rush to the newsstands and buy up all of the copies that you can get your hands on. In about a year, put them on eBay, and see if maybe you could get 99 cents for even one of them. If that doesn't work, then you could take the cover off from all of them and make some wallpaper for your living room.

Linda-yeagers right-there are many uses for these old magazines.Crowfart uses the George Bush mags for napkins as she always has diarrhea of the mouth. I have a couple of uses for the old Bill Clinton mags-One is I use them for cat liners for my cats litter box-I love to see her pee on Bill Clintons face and knowing what a disgusting pervert he is, I know he enjoys this.Another one is I use Bill Clinton mags to wipe ass with face up as I mutter eat sh*t and die you mangy piece of crap.

Who are the "some" who feel that way besides you, linda? Ascribing your personal opinion to imaginary others doesn't legitimize it. I think your opinion would be accepted a lot more around here if you'd just come out with it, something like this:

"Time's such a pinko rag in the first place, it must have really fried their eggs to have to put Bush on their cover twice, but I'll bet they knew if they didn't, people wouldn't buy their magazine"

Well, I'm back now that the holiday season is winding down and I'm trickling out packages this week. Phew!

Funny, some things never change. Linduh praising Bush for making Time's Person of the Year. I believe 2002, Bush was co-person of the year with Osama Bin Laden taking the honor as well. Reminds me of how screwed up the BCS is and how it was supposed to resolve the College Football Champion once and for all. We still have co-champions. Go figure.

It is obvious that Time will put anyone as Person of the Year. The more they kill, the more likely they'll be selected. I often wondered how Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld felt about soldiers they sent over to be killed. Now I know for sure. They don't give a rats @ss about them. To them it is nothing but a chirade. I hope that International courts step in and begin charging Bush and the rest of his crime family for these atrocities. Linduh has no problem praising this murderer. I suppose she also holds high regards for Hitler. They are practically one in the same.

i agree. corruption seems to be running rampant in our political system. however, honoring and supporting a man who hides behind his power, and is directly responsible for the murder of american soldiers and innocent civilians should be removed from power, tried in a court of law, and prosecuted accordingly. right now we have two powerful people on the loose who fit this perfectly... Osama and George Bush. Osama should be sentanced to death for murdering thousands of innocent civilians. George Bush should be put to death for treason against his own countrymen and the death of over 100,000 civilians. They both made the call for war, and both should be punished accordingly.

Well we could have let Saddam Huesien stay in power, I suppose. However he killed 40,000 of his own countymen-I didnt see any democrats complain about that-ever.They didnt die because of a war, they died because he enjoyed killing them thru torture and expierments. If he had been still in power who knows how many more he would have killed. If Osuma Bin Laden had never attacked us,we would never be over there in the first place.Put George Bush to death ? LOL you think we should have done that with Kennedy and Johnson?

No President should be able to play god with human life. It could be George Washington, Bill Clinton, or the Pope if he was President. War should only be used as a last resort. All diplomatic means must be exhausted in a fair manner.

I have to disagree with your statement, "he killed 40,000 of his own countymen-I didnt see any democrats complain about that-ever."

If you haven't heard one Democrat complain about that, then you're living in a cave. This isn't a partisan issue. I've heard just as many, if not more Democrats (because I know more Dems than Republicans) say repeatedly that Sadaam was and is an evil man. If Sadaam killed 40,000 Iraqi civilians over the many years of his rule, and is in jail, then George Bush should also be in jail for killing over 100,000 Iraqi civilians in a 2 year period as well. You are creating a double standard. Murder is murder. This war was not necessary. Even GW knows there were no WMDs. America had nothing to fear from Iraq. What we should have been fearing is the tactics and strategies that GW is using to promote his neo-conservative, extreme christian, fascist agenda.

It sickens me that a President would go to war on lies, promote a Constitutional Amendment filled with hate that promotes bigotry in order to promote his shallow minded agenda. When was the last time an Amendment was used to take away a freedom from Americans??? It was Prohibition, and we see what happened to that. Amendments should only be used to promote freedom, civil liberties, and equal rights for all. Not to take them away.

George W. Bush should be tried for treason against his own countrymen. No one should be forced to fight a war that is based on lies. There is no excuse for genocide either.

Oh my goodness, wouldn't want to appear sexist here. In the interest of equity, let me add:

classic, you're a base, lowlife, foul-mouthed, tiny-brained, sex obsessed troll. It's clear your sexual maturation process stopped in the eighth grade, or maybe seventh..Your use of language is a notch or two below maggie and crowfarm's, who manage to give me a chuckle now and then in spite of their vitriol.

There. Is that better maggie?

LOL - Just look at the reaction from the liberals. typical

And yes, classicrock, your description of cf's use of magazines as napkins, was right on. Thought after two manifestio's he/she'd keep his/her word this time....but obviously his/her word holds no absolutely no credibility at all.

And Rusty you are wrong once again. Might try finding out the *facts* BEFORE you 'make more things up' and state things that never happened.

Profe, the 'some' would be Bush supporters who saw just how biased the news media was...including Time Magazine. If they want to continue holding any standing in the media and not have people thinking of them like they now do of See-BS, they are going to have to work at being less biased. I'm sure making the decision to put President Bush on their cover, a second time, wasn't easy.
---------------

(Reuters) -- U.S. President George W. Bush's bold, uncompromising leadership and his clear-cut election victory made him Time magazine's Person of the Year for 2004, its managing editor said Sunday.

Time chose Bush "for sticking to his guns (literally and figuratively), for reshaping the rules of politics to fit his 10-gallon-hat leadership style and for persuading a majority of voters this time around that he deserved to be in the White House for another four years," Jim Kelly wrote in the magazine.

Bush was also Time's choice to appear on the cover in 2000 after winning the presidential election despite losing the popular vote.

............

"Obviously many supporters of the president will be pleased, many people who do not support the president will probably sigh," Kelly said.
"But even those who may not have voted for him will acknowledge that this is one of the more influential presidents of the last 50 years."

Classic.. you can take twelves place and start kissing the war monger ass, Linda is infatuated with President Bush and would drink that glass of cool-aid any time of the day or night if he offered it..

People come and go from these boards, it is none of your business if they change their mind...we tolerate your c&p, and boring love letters to your president, Linda... we know you are not a liar..because you honestly believe what you say.....although I think I would prefer a liar like your Twelvefollower, who came back to tell you all that he was playing you.. HAR!

But instead of a liar, Linda, you are a sick sheep... like the ones in the Jones cult... brain washed and can't think on your own.. follow the leader over the cliff...

Classic..yellow... I enjoy your sense of humor most of the time.. you are tough on the outside and mush in the center.. it shows... you are classic on the outside and yellowstone in the middle.. LOL..

Peppered with smilies just for you! Maggie

Oh good...now we get to hear from cf's defender.

The point is maggie....a point I see you can't comprehend yourself...is that a person's word is who they are. When their word means nothing...what they say after that meanings nothing because they can't be believed any longer. A person's 'word' is who they are...what type of person they are....again...I understand you can't grasp that little concept.
