Has it occurred to you that all this PR on Jeb Bush.. is the beginning of the grooming process for the next President?
Or will it be Hillary or maybe McCain?
What are your thoughts on this.. who do you think will run in the next election?

No on Jeb. That little brush up about the stripper on the state payroll will most certainly come back to bite him in the butt and make it difficult for him to run on a family vaue / moral high ground platform. Although it would be fun to see the conservatives try to sing his praises while simultaniously calling Clinton a cad.
McCain will definately be in the running but I think his moderate stance and bi-partisan efforts will work against him when it comes to party support (aka money).
Hillary - Without a doubt will be in the running and major front runner.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

Fenix.. I agree with Hillary and McCain, a lot will depend on how this president finishes up his term..
What the Democrats need is a MOVIE STAR on the ballot...Tom Hanks would be a good running mate for Hillary! LOL

Change the constitution and have Dubya and Bill Clinton run - that would be an interesting race.
I expect Jeb to run - but then I don't know anything about the stripper incident.
I don't want to see Hilary run - I don't really think she has a chance of winning.

No, not Jeb. I don't know about the stripper thing either, but That's just too many Bushes. No one wants a "dynasty" to start up. Besides,
"Jeb" is a silly name. Women don't vote for people with silly names or look funny.
Hitlery will run, but it just depends on who the Republican is on how much chance she has.
I'd vote for McCain whichever party he's with this year.
Schwarzenegger can't run for President. Can he run for VICE Prez?

No, Ahhnold can't be VP. Thank God. Isn't one terminator in office enough? As for Jeb, the name is enough, IMO. I know the song refers to Jed [Clampet], but when I hear the name Jeb, that song plays over and over in my head.
Hillary, I think would be good, but I don't think the religious right will have it. Most articles that you read show that the men in this section of the population run their women. The men are not going to vote for her and I doubt that their women will be allowed to vote for her. This past election showed just how powerful that section of the population is and just what they will stoop to. It's not time.
Maybe, as Democrats, we should play the same game this time around. Tell the people what they want to hear while secretly planning to ignore them. Do you honestly think the religious right is going to get everything they expect to get? And, they do EXPECT to get what they want as repayment for their vote. There are articles all over the Internet attesting to that fact. Talk about extortion.
Right now, the thing to be glad about is the abandonment of ethics changes. Can you just imagine if those were loosened as much as they wanted them to be. Under pressure, they've given up on it.

Watching McGain bend over and spread for the President after the way they abused him during the campaign makes me sick. I've lost all respect for the man. He can play the loyal opposition bit all he wants, it won't make a bit of difference.

The stereotypes some have in their minds about others would be [and are to read] so funny if they didn't really believe what they state.

we should play the same game this time around. Tell the people what they want to hear while secretly planning to ignore them.
kerry did just that. He offered ALL sides of each issue as his position(s) and he still lost. The majority of voters found THIS President to be the most credible.
Do you honestly think the religious right is going to get everything they expect to get? No...sure don't. But they're going to get a TON more than if a ultra-liberal like kerry had been elected.
---------------------
Yep, dems who agreed with Zell Miller were also the reason this President was re-elected. Thank you Zell Miller supporters.

Classic
FYI, I was referring to the radical religious right - Jerry Falwell comes to mind. He called NOW the National Order of Witches for Christ's sake. What a jerk. My brother is one. Radical in my book, that is. His wife votes as he does. So did my grandmother and my mother for a time. His faith (Mormon) dictates that the wife does as the husband wants at least for those who follow it to the letter and he follows it to the letter. You don't believe their are oppressed women living in the good ol' USA? Look around you. Some of them are hiding bruises behind their sunglasses.
Linda what can I say. I see you've not changed one little bit. Guess I'll have to find more of what you state and pick it apart. I'd given up on that. Time to re-group.

Why in the world you'd expect me to change in my political positions is beyond me, cheryl.
I personally think you take things posted in regards to statements you make a little too personally. You made a statement about men controlling their women lol...like no left leaning man has EVER done such a thing....and then you show your bias by blaming the Bush administration for doing exactly what kerry did the whole time he campaigned for office.
Then you mention how the 'religious right' believe this President 'owes' them support. Of course they do. Like the democratic party has never understood or acted in a way to show support for their financial/voting public. lol It works both ways in both parties. To think otherwise is to not be able to understand how they work and who they work for.
You surely can't believe that a HUGE donor to the democratic party like Soro's thought if his money got kerry elected...he didn't want his personal interests served.
Your over-sensitivity to my comments is typical/usual - you tend to personalize them rather than understanding they are directed at the democratic party....not you. And I welcome your comments on anything I post. That hasn't changed a bit.

Cheryl-how do you know your brothers wife votes the same way he does???She just may be saying that.My point is when she goes in to vote, she still can vote for whomever she wants to and your brother cant do a damn thing about it. Yes I know there are oppressed women in the U.S. that have bruises under their sunglasses.I worked for the New York State Police for 36 years and Im alot more familar with wife abuse that I care to remember.I could tell you stories that would make you vomit.

I'm sure she votes the same way. You'd have to know her. I mean, they're nice people but their blind devotion to that church is sickening. I'm sure you have seen Hell! You probably wondered more than I do why they stay and endure the abuse. My mother was abused by her second husband until one of my uncles and my grandfather beat the crap out of him and he wisely left. This was back in the 1960's so the police didn't do much about it. Since they said it was a family matter, the family took care of it.

alot of times they put up with it because they are a stay at home mom with no job, with kids and really no where to go.Child support and alimony sometimes isnt enough.Another reason is they are actually afraid what the husband will do if she deceides to leave. You can get an order of protection, but that wont stop a pissed off husband from paying her a visit and kicking the crap out of her.Of course he will be arrested after violating the court order, but the damage is already done.

Sad, isn't it? I think that's why my mom stayed. Three kids with one on the way. Yes, he even beat her when she was pregnant. I must say that if any man put a hand on her now, they'd find pieces of him scattered about! She's a very strong woman now.
