Been at the hospital all day, they induced labor, just left to come feed the dog and look at the 'store' she dilated to a 5, and that is over 10 days, they don't like doing C sections obviously. I finally got to talk to that dr too nice guy.. he is thinking if she doesn't dilate by 2 am thats what 10 min from now, he'll do a c section..

so just came home to take a shower at 1 AM!! and go back!

I guess I'll get to see what Lily looks like this Monday, it is Monday right?

Dr is positive the baby is over 9 lbs, we'll see. I think I'm really out of it, so once this is over, I think I'll pass out for a couple days!!

OH omg I just thought. They SURELY didn't do this when I had kids, but they do EVERYTHIHG in the room, deliver, the baby sleeps with you, there is a small couch and a rocker!! So the whole time your there, you take care of your baby (which is only right) but when I had the girls, they brought them to me, and I just got to rest!
There was a nursery, where they put my girls with the rest of the newborns, well no more, am I behind the times or what?! LOL! AND this is a sign of the times we live in! I guess? as soon as the baby is born a monitor is put on her, and alarms go off if the baby passes the first door!!!!! wow! and NO MORE VIDEO CAMERAS! go figure, they had to sign some waiver saying they would not have videos taken during labor..
ok I'm dead, but gotta keep going...

Happy Monday!

Near

I remember when I had my daughter back in 1980. I stayed in the hositpal for one week mainly to rest. They did the late night and early morning feedings (I didn't breast feed). When I had my son in 1984, not only did I have the baby 24 hours a day, they kicked me out after three days. Jenny was an excellent baby who slept through the night very early. Michael developed colic and I didn't sleep for months!

Congrats Grams!!

Warn your DIL - we late babies turn into cronic procrastinators. I was nearly two weeks late and my mother ended up with the C section too only hers was I outgrew the house and my shoulders wouldn't come thru.

At least you had those extra few days to get ready to spoil!!

Yes things have certainly changed since we had our babies. But one thing that never changes is the wonderful delicious sweet smell of a baby..

Congratulations to the Mom and also to you NTS. Now she will need all the help she can get until she gets back on her feet.

When I had my daughter I was in labor for about 10 hours. My husband sat with me all day and at 5:30 he decided to go get something to eat. You guessed it I had Angela while he was gone. Missed the whole thing.

Maybe that baby was trying to tell me something

Happy new baby! Happy new grand-baby! Don't forget to oil your rocking chair. That's not the rocker making that noise, you say? Hmmmmm.

Remember you can spoil her rotten.....then send her home!

Hospital procedure did change drastically between 1980 and 1983. In 1983 HMOs allowed ONE day in the hospital, you paid for any additional days. The other mother in the same room as my wife thought I was a saint when I insisted the wife stay an extra night. HA! She worked for the hospital and it was 100% covered. One last uninterrupted night of sleep.
