Just curious if there are any race fans here on Vendio. I'm a long time Mark Martin fan - really going to miss him next year!
Tony Stewart is one of my favorite drivers as well, since my husband's from Indiana. I really enjoyed his win yesterday!

I dont get into it, caroline. But many here talk about it a great deal. And alot of the local companies sponser some of them like Petty, etc. Personally, I thought it was way more interesting when Earnhart was around though...... I did have a boss who was a total Jeff Gordon fanatic! Boy did he get alot of pleasure out of all that Nascar stuff ...

Lot's of NASCAR fan here. Of course there’s not so many "Liberal NASCAR fans."
The Liberals believe that auto racing is foolish.
They think: "the money wasted on NASCAR should be used to buy every crack mom with more then 2 children (must have different fathers) an Electric (non polluting) car."
They also believe, it's racist because of the lack of black race drivers. They say NASCAR is the reason for all minority car thieves. (“They’re practicing for the big race!”)
This is just a heads-up so you'll know "just what-the-hell they're talking about.

What's wrong Dbl - surprised that I know that Petty Blue is a designated color or just that I would be a fan of the bad boy of racing.

"This is just a heads-up"......ya, and we know what your head's up....can tell by that stupid post.
No, fenix, there should be no surprise about the fact that there are race car fans of all beliefs....only to the people who have drowned in the Kool-aid.

Dont all adorable little girls have pink princess-like rooms? Huh!! What a misnomer! But my room was...until I got into my pre-teens and my brother moved out. I took his room downstairs that I could get away from my parents upstairs.

Probably Caroline but I was just a wee little lass and I could not care less about politics... I just thought he was cool. Women always go for the bad boys, even when they are little girls.
Dbl - just never thought of my room as very princess like... always looked like a tornado had passed thru and smelled like chlorine during the summers from pool soaked towels and clothes piling up in the closet...and the floor...

"Lot's of NASCAR fan here. Of course there’s not so many "Liberal NASCAR fans."

Colin- that had to be the stupidest post I have seen in quite awhile. But I shouldn't expect much from a "jacked up Ford driving, Budweiser swilling, doublewide living, backwoods hunting Redneck like yourself" now should I? See where stereotypes get us? Absolutely nowhere. You end up making false assumptions about a group of people and you end up looking like an idiot. Now, hopefully you realize my statement was only meant as an example. I don't know you, I don't know if you drive a Ford, perhaps you drive a Chevy with a sticker of Calvin peeing on a Ford logo, perhaps you prefer drinking PBR, or maybe you like fishing rather than hunting. Maybe you're that cushy suburbanite who never steps foot outside, so your pearly white skin never sees a ray of UV. Perhaps you have a membership to Bally's gym and a Starbucks latte card.
So, to clarify, I am a far left leaning Progressive who was a Bill Elliott fan back in the day. In fact, our whole family and friends cheered him on... perhaps because in his early days he drove under the Melling Tool car, which was a corporation in our home town of Jackson, Michigan. I've been to Michigan IS too many times to count, and used to go to Daytona when I lived in Florida too. So, yeah, we "liberals" think Nascar is foolish. We don't like the dirt tracks with sprint cars either. In fact, racing all-together is plain stupid whether it is a bunch of modified American made cars driving in circles for 500 miles, or Lance Armstrong racing in the Tour De France. By the way, did all the conservatives boycott Lance since this race took place in "France"?

well no arguement in this corner-not to mention B O R I N G.The only reason people watch nascar is to watch the accidents.

It is boring if you don't know what's going on - but once you get to know who the drivers are, where they are in points, etc. it really gets interesting. I've been watching for 15 years now, and it just gets better and better for me - and I am so not a sports fan.

caroline- I'm sure your husband was happy when Tony took the Glen. We live about an hour or so from there and I had several friends go. I went once in '89, when we were home on vacation, and was bored to tears!
I have alot of friends who are big fans...so I thought I'd see what the fuss was about. I'd fall asleep watching the race every Sunday, or I'd find myself secretly hoping for an accident, then feeling guilty when it happened.
Now, a few years later, I actually enjoy the races. I've gotten to "know" the drivers and have a few I root for. I like Jr. because he adopted his cats from the SPCA. I like Michael Waltrip, he seems like a genuinely nice guy that just can't seem to get a break. (You'd think his number should be 13!) All of the guys raise funds for various charities. The more I watch the more I want to watch.
I used to drag race, still watch when I get a chance, and have always enjoyed horse racing.

I've never been to a road course race - I'd like to though. We usually go to Dover. If you're not a race fan, going to see one is probably the most boring thing! I know it was first time I went.
I love Jr. as well - didn't know he had cats from the SPCA, now I like him even more.
Also, Elliott Sadler raises dogs, he has something like 23. Can't remember the breed - but I like Elliott alot better now after hearing that!
