In the late 60's early 70's most independents were forced out and franchisees were bought out. Most remaining stations are company owned not owner operatored.

Yes, gas prices are going up and up and up.....and it's not slowing the demand from American's down one bit.
Supply vs demand.

And why the American Voters chose to RE-elect President Bush to four more years. YES!!!

Some forecasters are saying that gas will have to hit $5/gal before the average American changes thier driving habits.

The gas price today in Chevy Chase, Maryland is 3.00 per gal for High Test, 2.82 for regular. We had to get rid of our boat because we couldn't afford to fill it up with 240 gal! On the water, the gas prices are even higher because they have a captive customer.

The price of fuel is a double bladed sword Linda_K. Just watch the effects of higher prices on goods from high fuel cost in the coming months. Ever heard of a trucking sir charge on deliveries?

Of course the CON in conservatives always want to blame the victims of high fuel cost not the cause for it.

Linda_K, I can't wait for more of your "good news" you bring us. Remember you "good news" about more Americans owning homes. Well you really need to look into the fact the a few years ago the average American owned around 70% of their home lending companies owned 30%. Today the average home owner across America own about 50% of their home and lending companies own 50%.

Just remember when you bring us "good news" you need to tell the whole story or someone here will tell it for you.

Peeppaa, do you have to show how uneducated you are in every single post you make?

It's surcharge. Not - "sir charge."

dblfogger9, I never said I could spell very good. I could never master spelling very well I have Dyslexia.

But like most CON-servatives you didn't address the issue of outrageous fuel costs.. Like how gas has gone up over 50 cents a gallon in just the last year while oil companies are posting record profits.

Pickup on my misspelled words all you want because that won't change the fact that high fuel equals higher consumer costs.

Bigpeepa, this bears repeating as most Americans don't know it yet!

"""oil companies are posting record profits."""

"""oil companies are posting record profits."""

"""oil companies are posting record profits."""

"""oil companies are posting record profits."""

We could all sell our cars and SUVs and roller skate to work and the prices would still go up.
America operates under the laws of supply and demand....the ones with the supply demand higher prices...it's the American way.
