Linda_K,posted some very good news about Bush's invasion of Iraq.

Linda said,From Forbes.com - 4 hours ago: [in part]

coalition forces have arrested the second most senior figure in al-Qaida in Iraq, Iraq's national security adviser announced on Sunday, saying the group now suffered from a "serious leadership crisis."

Hamed Jumaa Farid al-Saeedi, known as Abu Humam or Abu Rana, was captured north of Baghdad a few days ago "along with another group of his aides and followers," Mouwafak al-Rubaie said.

He was the second most important al-Qaida in Iraq leader after Abu Ayyub al-Masri, who took over the group after Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed by a U.S. air strike north of Baghdad on June 7, al-Rubaie said.

"We believe that al-Qaida in Iraq suffers from a serious leadership crisis. Our troops have dealt fatal and painful blows to this organization," the security adviser said.

Since my other Iraq War invasion post has 10 pages I will bring new updates on this new turning point in Iraq.

linda_k,
You bring great new. I just hope the killing in Iraq slows.

Remember the last "NEW TURNING POINT UPDATE FOR THE IRAQ WAR" on 6/08/2006.

6/08/06 WONDERFUL NEWS FROM IRAQ TODAY ZARQAWI IS DEAD. The number 1 terrorist in Iraq was killed.

I remember Bush saying Zarqawi death was "a big deal"

On June 6th 2006 we had 2,484 dead American.

Now on 8/3/2006 we have 2,644 dead American Troops. 160 more since the last big deal in Iraq less than 90 days ago.

On June 6th the other "big deal" day according to Bush. We had 18,254 wounded American Troops.

Today less than 90 days later we have 19,773 wounded American Troops an increase of 1,519 more wounded.

I am hoping and praying this time it really will be a "big deal". Only time will tell, not Geo Bush I can't believe a word the man says. Too many lies and broken promises from him.

Actually, Bigpeepa, terrorists are NOT being defeated. Their numbers are increasing throughout the world. The number of international terrorist attacks tripled last year....from 175 to 655.

According to the State Department, in Iraq alone, terrorist incidents increased NINE times the previous total.

BAGHDAD (AFP) - Insurgents killed at least six people and wounded dozens more in attacks across Iraq, while police found 16 bullet-riddled corpses.

Three people were killed and 16 others wounded in a roadside bomb attack in central Baghdad's Tayran Square, a medic at the capital's Al-Kindi hospital said.

Interior ministry spokesman Brigadier General Abdul Karim Khalaf confirmed the attack Sunday.

Insurgents have managed to carry out massive attacks across Baghdad despite a major security crackdown by Iraqi and US forces since mid-June.

To the north of Baghdad in the restive Diyala province, attacks continued unabated.

A former general and his bodyguard were ambushed and killed by gunmen in the village of Beni Saad, near the provincial capital of Baquba, police said, adding that a 12-year-old boy was also wounded in the clash.

One policeman was similarly shot dead in the town of Muqdadiyah, while four teenagers were wounded in a mortar attack in Baquba.

A local municipal council member from the town of Khalis and his bodyguard were also wounded when gunmen shot at them.

Iraqi police also found 16 bullet-riddled corpses of men killed in the vicious sectarian conflict, some of them with severed heads.

Seven mutilated bodies were fished out of the Tigris river in the town of Suwayrah, at a spot southeast of the war-torn capital where murder victims wash up on a daily basis.

The bullet-riddled corpses of three men were found under a bridge on the road north from Baghdad to Balad.

Police also came upon three bodies during a raid on a warehouse in the capital, and elsewhere three more bodies were found.

In Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit, a petrol station manager was kidnapped by armed men, police said.

In the same province, an early morning clash between gunmen and the bodyguard of the provincial police chief left four insurgents dead.

"Gunmen attempted to ambush the police chief's bodyguard who was with his companions and in the ensuing gunfight, the four were killed," a police officer told AFP.

A roadside bombing in the east Baghdad neighbourhood of Jadida wounded two policemen.

Wounded in Iraq: Shattered bodies, shattered lives
POSTED: 10:40 a.m. EDT, September 15, 2006
By Cal Perry
CNN

Editor's note: In our Behind the Scenes series, CNN correspondents share their experiences in covering news and analyze the stories behind the events. CNN's Cal Perry was given rare access inside the 10th Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- "Ever seen someone have their chest cracked," one of the medics asked me on my first day in May at a combat hospital here in Iraq.

How in the world do you answer that question?

"Not as far as I can remember," I said sarcastically.

"You will," he answered with a sly, childish grin on his face.

I had no idea what I would see and how real the war becomes here in the 10th Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad -- the busiest in the country.

Helicopters land around the clock, bringing in U.S. troops wounded and dead, along with wounded insurgents and civilians. (Watch as medics scramble to treat war wounded -- 2:22)

The job of these doctors and medics is to save the life of someone who has endured "fresh trauma," which means they were pulled directly from the battlefield and taken right into the trauma room. Eighteen-year-old medics are doing things here that they would never do back home. They do it, because they have to. No one can imagine the strength it takes to look another 18-year-old in the face as he pleads for his life, putting his entire future in the hands of people he has just met.

It happens here, every day.

The U.S. military has now had more than 20,000 troops wounded in Iraq and nearly 2,700 more killed. More than 9,100 of the wounded were unable to return to duty -- their injuries taking them home to their mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, wives and children. In the statistical tables and graphs released by the military, they are just numbers with no mention of what combat wounds really look like.

At combat hospitals across Iraq, medics see limbs completely blown off, head "shots and blasts," burns, contusions, compound fractures and bullet wounds to name just a few. An improvised explosive device -- the phrase the military uses to describe the deadliest of insurgent weapons -- doesn't just send shrapnel into the body, it tears the body apart. Americans hear this term every day, as if it's another regular item in the daily news.

What they don't see is what it does to the soldiers. The human body literally shatters and tears. As one doctor told me, "You realize that all we are is a very thin bag of water."

I spent the better part of four weeks reporting from the combat hospital. Soldiers were coming in with legs and arms missing -- limbs sometimes recovered on the streets, bagged up by the combat medics who live with the "fresh trauma" forever.

Doctors at the 10th Combat Support Hospital told me the story of one combat medic who was at the beginning of his tour. He carried in an arm one day with a "thousand-mile stare on his face," followed closely behind a soldier screaming in pain and begging for his life. The new medic didn't know yet that there was nothing they could do with the arm.

Countless soldiers are returning home with the loss of a limb or limbs. Their lives will never be the same.

The American people also need to know that combat medicine has vastly improved in the past 30 years. Ninety-four percent of those who make it to the 10th Combat Support Hospital leave alive, a number significantly higher than previous conflicts. But the increased survival rate also means that soldiers are going home with wounds and injuries that will require long-term care.

It's impossible to imagine how these long-term injuries affect the war wounded, their lives and the lives of their families. Forever.

MORE EXAMPLES OF BUSH'S DEMOCRACY BELOW

By Peter Graff

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqi police have found the bodies of 47 more death squad victims in Baghdad, the latest in a wave of sectarian killings which prompted the United States to divert troops from other parts of Iraq to the embattled capital.

The bodies were found early Saturday. Most victims had been bound, tortured and shot, bringing the toll from such killings to nearly 180 in four days.

The United States has shifted its emphasis to the capital in recent months, after concluding that sectarian violence between Shi'ites and Sunni Arabs was a greater threat than the Sunni Arab insurgency it has fought mainly in the west and north.

The U.S. military confirmed Iraqi plans, announced earlier this week, to restrict access to Baghdad by forcing cars through 28 checkpoints, but denied some Western media reports that the plan involves digging a giant 60 mile trench around the city.

Washington has acknowledged a "spike" in execution-style sectarian killings in the capital this week, but said violence has been reduced in the scattered neighborhoods it has targeted in "Operation Together Forward," a monthlong security crackdown.

No One Dares to Help
The wounded die alone on Baghdad's streets. An offer of aid could be your own death sentence, an Iraqi reporter writes.
September 20, 2006

Because this account of daily life in Baghdad reveals where the writer lives, his name is not being used to protect his safety. He is a 54-year-old Iraqi reporter in The Times' Baghdad Bureau.

BAGHDAD — On a recent Sunday, I was buying groceries in my beloved Amariya neighborhood in western Baghdad when I heard the sound of an AK-47 for about three seconds. It was close but not very close, so I continued shopping.

As I took a right turn on Munadhama Street, I saw a man lying on the ground in a small pool of blood. He wasn't dead.

The idea of stopping to help or to take him to a hospital crossed my mind, but I didn't dare. Cars passed without stopping. Pedestrians and shop owners kept doing what they were doing, pretending nothing had happened.

I was still looking at the wounded man and blaming myself for not stopping to help. Other shoppers peered at him from a distance, sorrowful and compassionate, but did nothing.

I went on to another grocery store, staying for about five minutes while shopping for tomatoes, onions and other vegetables. During that time, the man managed to sit up and wave to passing cars. No one stopped. Then, a white Volkswagen pulled up. A passenger stepped out with a gun, walked steadily to the wounded man and shot him three times. The car took off down a side road and vanished.

No one did anything. No one lifted a finger. The only reaction came from a woman in the grocery store. In a low voice, she said, "My God, bless his soul."

I went home and didn't dare tell my wife. I did not want to frighten her.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) — Iraqi authorities have taken a brigade of up to 700 policemen out of service and put members under investigation for "possible complicity" with death squads following a mass kidnapping earlier this week, the U.S. military said Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a series of bombs went off in rapid succession in a shopping district in a mainly Christian neighborhood of Baghdad, killing 12 people and wounding 87, police said. The dead were among 28 people killed in attacks across Iraq.

The U.S. military also announced the death of two soldiers — the latest in what has been one of the bloodiest stretches of days for American troops this year. At least 17 troops have been killed in combat since Saturday, including eight U.S. soldiers who died in gun battles and bomb blasts Monday in Baghdad — the most killed in a single day in the capital since July 2005.

I'LL SEE YOU ALL AT THE GREAT AMERICAN PROTEST ON NOVEMBER 7TH 2006.
