I am going to be taking a trip to my favorite of all places Maui, and I am wondering if there is a post office near (within walking distance) to Whaler's village or near Kanapaali somewhere. We are staying at the Maui Eldorado condos (love them!) and I will not have the car during the day while hubby is golfing and I need to mail my ebay stuff (of course!) Any hints or locations?

fancypants, I live in South Maui, in Kihei. I'm not sure specifically about Kaanapali post offices, but there is one in Lahaina... NOT walking distance though from the Eldorado. You can check with the front desk where you're staying, though, since many have mail service.
In the meantime, I'm hitting our post office tomorrow afternoon and I'll ask the gang and post back again tomorrow night.

Ok, I talked to my friend at the post office and she said the closest po to the Eldorado is behind the Civic Center about halfway between Kaanapali and Lahaina. Since Kaanapali is technically part of Lahaina, the resorts there have a Lahaina address. That po is about a 5 minute drive from the Eldorado but I wouldn't walk it unless you've got a light load and you like to walk a lot, lol If you DO walk it, do it first thing in the a.m. before it gets too hot.
I would just drop hubby off at the golf course and take the car, myself.
But, when you check in, see if there isn't a mail service at the front desk. Or, if not with them, with a neighbor resort.
Good luck!
edited to add, our post office in Kihei was actually written up in a travel magazine for being one of the top spots on Maui for local gossip

Thanks KiheiCat! That is much help! I maybe will comandere (sp?) the car, but then I might have to stop and go shopping somewhere...oh well, I will sacrifice myself! ALso, LOTSAFUFF, my desire to send out my ebay stuff is driven by a finely tuned guilt complex (but it gets me good FB!) Plus, I sell lingerie so it's really light! THANKS AGAIN for all of the help! Oh, there's also a post office in Kahului on Pu'unene right smack dab next door to the Swap Meet! There's a good morning for you... ship your stuff off and wander the Meet. Some cool stuff there.
You could also stop there on your way in from the airport after you land (turn right on Pu'unene at the big church) and then forget about eBay and enjoy the rest of your vacation. Then when your hubby is golfing, you can stroll down to the Hula Grill at the Whaler's village, have a Pina Colada, and relax, or maybe do some snorkeling... excellent snorkeling right in front of the Sheraton at Black Rock; Eldorado is on the other side of the Rock.

Thanks for the tips! We already plan to stop at the Costco after we leave the airport to stock up on food, seeing as we had to cash in our 401K just to get some food (yes, we went to the Safeway at Lahaina - and later found out it is the most expensive on the island!) Now I have another good stop!!! The snorkle advice is appreciated, although the fish were a little aggresive in Napili Bay last time - No more tubes of fish food more me!

You can fill out a Safeway Club card and they'll give you discounts on the spot, even if you don't live here. Besides Costco, the best grocery prices are at Star Market.
Best selection in the grocery stores is after Wednesdays when the ships come in, and sometimes right before the new stuff comes in you can get better deals on the stuff they're clearing out for the new. I'm a single mom, I calculate all variables, lol
