Any topic at anytime can involve obvious or interpreted insults.
This threat, "If the topic of Vietnam veterans and/or military involvement cannot be discussed without the thread degenerating into general insults, the topic will be disallowed in this forum" strikes me as a "slap in the face" to (all) military veterans and demeans and discriminates.
Has there been other controversial topics prohibited because arguments and insults sometimes occur? I have to step back and evaluate this threat. At this moment it appears very anti-military to me and indicates AW or some AW officials might hold the military in disdain.
As far as I know, no shootings have occurred. It just does not ring correctly that AW would move so fast to prohibit a particular topic because arguments and petty insults sometimes occur.

That's what good scotch will do to a Scot... jumbled lyrics that make no sense -- no doubt sung at the top of one's lungs to the delirious wheezing of fifty pipes...

1. Yes, there have been other topics prohibited at times - panties (as spazmodeus has pointed out) and the Holocaust come to mind. We reserve the right to end any topic that we feel that it has become combative or if we feel it is inappropriate for our forums. I'm sorry that your perception is that this is a "slap in the face".
2. Your implication that AuctionWatch or an AuctionWatch might "hold the military in disdain" is not only completely untrue, it is insulting to the AuctionWatch staff.
